Thanks for that. It seems that some think it is OK to charge money to transmit on public frequencies and others don't.

I live in southeast Michigan. I had my Radioddity G30, hand held out on the back porch to just listen. I listened to two people just 25 miles south of the Mackinaw bridge which is 300+ miles from me. Today I heard two people talking from Indiana, and two others from Cleveland. Are they somehow jumping from repeater to repeater? I'm sure someone has a answer to quell my curiosity. Thanks for helping me understand...

Just tell the HAMS this is your "First Step" in your radio journey and will be following up with a HAM license. Probably will get all the help you need, or is that false advertising. lol

I see many repeaters listed stating they require a paid subscription. I have questions about this. All licensed GMRS users may transmit on any authorized GMRS frequency using any available tone, providing they are not breaking any FCC regulations. I understand that setting up a repeater requires time and resources (i.e., $$$$), but anyone setting up a GMRS repeater is essentially putting it out in the public domain. Tones are not some super-secret thing. How is charging people money to use public frequencies not illegal?

I hear you. My adult sons take great pleasure in telling me if I forget to be a "normie" and get a little to military. I usually start with, "well at your age I was blah blah blah," as if they care. LOL

LOL - Too Funny........ "30 Super Carry" Was As Successful As The "Sig357" Round - Both Didn't Do Well........ Everyone Has Their Opinion, & As Long As The Gun Goes "Bang" For Your Specific Purpose - All Good For The Intended Purpose.......

If you have a type accepted GMRS radio the offset should be baked in for you. A number of diy repeater channels should be also.
-
Might want to consult the manual. It has info you need to know. Then you may want to consult the interweb. It also has info you need to know. If your programming in a computer this will alll be 10000000xs easier and make more sense to you. You will always need a plus5 off set for gmrs repeaters and usually tones.
-
Just steer 'em to the 30 Super Carry group...

You're not alone. I've read similar comments over time.

Try right clicking on the install file and left click "Run as Administrator".

That's OK. I tried. If you can't work the inner workings of the system they you are reliant on everything working right the first time around. I just spent an hour with my wifi router that I use to connect my laptop to my printer. No internet connection. It's been working for over a decade and then it went plop. Had to reset my router completely and now I only have the default name which I hate. Took me an hour to get things back to operation because I refused to give up my original specs. But eventually I had to reset it.

I am going to guess, based on his previous responses, that he is going to have zero clue what any of those words mean. ..just a guess though..

Should work. I had trouble with Win7 Uninstall the previous programming software if you haven't already. See if there's a line in the program area of the control panel to remove the driver. If not go to the device manager and locate it and remove it. Reboot the computer and install the driver. Hopefully it'll work. Or you might be able to "update" the driver in the device manager with the same file. Likely this with throw an error as "current version installed"

You mean we aren't suppose to inhale any nitrous oxide???? I figured a little for me and a little for the race engine was a good thing.

Or a bit too much nitrous oxide.

New guy here and learning what I can. In my readings it sounded like making a new channel for repeaters is best; ie. Channel 31. Do I need to input the offset/direction or is it auto/hardcoded in the H3GMRS radio? thanks.

Another update. RT Systems has released the Mac versions for the following Wouxun models: KG-XS20G/KG-XS20G Plus KG-935G/KG-935G Plus KG-Q10G KG-Q10H KG-1000G/KG-1000G Plus Note: for versions that have a regular and Plus models, there will be two different installers inside the Zip or DMG files. Make sure to select the correct one.
