  1. Past hour
  2. Mine is the same. It’s not everything but I noticed it on some fire frequencies recently as we had a big fire here and we were next to an evacuation zone so I was scanning those. I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but I didn’t have any tones set so maybe that played into it.
  3. I had it, but bumped upt the SQL to about 7. But them miss out on lower S meter signals coming in.
  4. Your theory is probably correct. AES128 is a little better, ARCA better than both but not holding a candle to the Hytera AES256 . DMR and analog with this radio is very good. I'm not complaing, the DMR32 is still a decent radio and their encryption works, just not to par with higher end radios.
  5. Welcome Sir, I also replied to your guest post. Cheers

Welcome Pedro, I seem to recall seeing good coverage with repeaters there so suspect you wont be disappointed.
  7. This I can dig, thanks for clearing things up. BTW my post with the "Magazine full of ads" was more a dig at the ARRRRRRL than your club idea.
  8. You must be a genuine amateur and I don't mean an Amateur Radio Operator or are you just a normal developmentally challenged Sad Ham?
  9. I like the idea of GMRS clubs. I was drawn here (myGMRS) and to other forums because of the info that was shared. There are some other forums that I no longer, or rarely, visit because the info no longer met my needs or interest. If this new "club" interests me I may go there.
  10. Thanks for the entertaining thread.
  11. Today
  12. Ever hear of mobile, POTA or SOTA?
  13. - one in every crowd. Doesnt read, and just wants to put their 2 cents in.. i'll give you back your change. Yeah, Trolls be living under all kinds of bridges these days.
  14. I would like to point out that the club is not charging anything.. to anyone. That was corrected a long time ago and I corrected it on the club discussion posts. There was at one point a consideration for a "Supporting Member" option, but abandoned because we dont have anything that costs money. yet. and unlikely to change.
  15. LOL. Okay, fair enough.
  16. Nothing I’ve read has anything like that. Nor have I seen any evidence that they want that kind of authority. But even if they did the FCC would have something to say about it.
  17. Hand a 2nd radio to a friend or family member when you're out and about doing a thing where you need an easy communication solution...then push the button when you want to talk. It's literally that simple
  18. I asked about this after we got back from Yellowstone last year because I had the ranger / park service repeaters programmed in and, for some reason, with ONLY those stations (and not all the time), mine would do this. Still no idea wtf that was about.
  19. Will the GMRUS start requiring people to take and pass a written test to get a license?
  20. Hi Pedro, I am glad to see that you have registered. I also replied to your guest post. Feel free to ask questions!
  21. Hello Everyone... Got my license, got the Baofeng GMRS-15Pro radio, got the Chirp software and programming cable, haven't programmed radio yet. Located in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico; looking for advice on how to begin my GMRS adventure.

Welcome Pedro! It sounds like you’ve got a good start! Feel free to jump right in. If you have questions feel free to ask!
  23. So now I have to say I have two friends who have that issue.
  24. I have the 779 and occasionally the squelch will stay open from another radios transmission. Same fix of hitting the PTT button will clear it.

Hello Everyone... Got my license, got my Baofeng GMRS-15 PRO radio, got my programming cable, got the chirp software, haven't programmed my radio yet. Located at Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, just looking for orientation in GMRS community. WSJS334 "Monitoring".
  26. I believe most if not all clubs on this forum center around having access to a repeater or repeaters within a local area. Perhaps some are just for community of a given area. The point is they offer something that these members would not otherwise have unique to where they are. Your club however differs in that you seem to be suggesting charging for what is already here for free on the very site that already offers it. The old saying regarding business or product “find a need and fill it” comes to mind. Here I don’t see the need. Sure, that’s just my opinion. Perhaps I am missing something and happy to admit if I’m wrong. As a new license holder asking for money for something that exists for free I think you can understand the question of what it is and what’s the motive. As mentioned above you don’t need to justify to me or anyone else (other than perhaps those that give money) and it goes without saying you are free to do as you like. You may have great motives and intentions. That said when asking for money then questions are valid even if the way they get asked sometimes is not.
  27. The only problem I've had with my 779 so far is that it locked up once several months ago. Once I disconnected the power and reconnected it, it was just fine. Hasn't happened since. I've been using this radio for about 2 years if I remember correctly.
