    Hey, that did it! Thanks!!!
  3. That's why Heinz' makes 57 varieties! I have a friend who is a ham radio enthusiast and an international diplomat. Once time when he went to Europe to consult for a foreign president, he brought his DMR HT with him and we were able to consistently have 100% clear communications during his time there. Could I do that with HF; of course not! It all depends upon whose ox is being gored...
  4. Here is the problem; I am trying to respond to your excitement about your upcoming DM-32 DMR HT and its Baofeng DMR software, but I just can't seem to get any specifics from you about what makes it better than sliced bread: Telling me to download the software and take a look at it without having a radio is no substitute for hearing what your actual positive experiences are, but you seem unable or unwilling to go into detail about your excitement with the DM-32 DMR programming software. The fact of the matter is that some months ago (when the DM-32 was only available for purchase at AliExpress), in order to be able to help someone else online, I DID download the Baofeng DMR software from a 3rd party source to take a look at it; Version 1.24, which appears to be the same version available now on the Baofeng website. It looks virtually similar to the Baofeng/Radioddity DMR software that I have been using since 2018 and with all due respect there is nothing exciting about it! That is why I moved over to OpenGD77 firmware on my RD-5R and DM-5R, which has been like night and day! And when my models went out of production, I purchased a DM-1701 from AliExpress to see how easily it would be to install OpenGD77 on it and it was like a hot knife through butter! Not being too impressed with that model, I gave it away for a donation to our local repeater club. But then all your excitement about the DM-32, which as we both know does NOT support OpenGD77. Normally I would just buy it, play with it and again probably give it away but I just cannot find any 3rd party confirmation about your enthusiasm about its Baofeng CPM DMR software, and I just don't want to waste $75 and be disappointed. Yes, this radio has new up-to-date radio features that are non-DMR: such as dual watch capability, a bigger/nicer full color screen and a different, perhaps better interface, and is also USB-C rechargeable. But none of these features improve the DMR programming capabilities. After further research on the internet, I found this comparison between the DM-32 and using a DM-1701 with OpenGD77: For reference, here is the DM-32 DMR CPS: And here is the 2018 Baofeng DMR CPS: Maybe once you get the actual DM-32 and have experience programming it, you will share with us why you are so excited about its DMR CPS programming...
  5. Good afternoon, Jackman, Maine resident. Are there any new GMRS frequencies up this way?
  6. I pulled out the radios that I use and did a power test on them. Made a video for my YouTube Channel and here's the results. Thanks for watching. TN.Frank Out!
  7. Today
  8. Nice ducting this morning on GMRS. Had a Long Island repeater getting into the Baltimore/Annapolis area. I had a momentary "WOW" factor that I would never get with VOIP.
  9. Baloney! My amp idles at 1,300 watts.
  10. Got to be more careful Randy. There's no telling what you might bring back home from anonymous men.
  11. I donated my GMRS 50Pro to someone that has no business using a radio like this, and they've already screwed it up multiple times, not even knowing what/how they did it.. "the screen just got stuck like that by itself" So.. does the GMRS50 Pro radio have a Keypad-lock? I'm not finding any mention of being able to lock-out the keypad in the user-manual .
  12. My Wouxun KG-Q10H came with two antennas. I hardly ever use the 1.25m/6m bands as I am lazy and don't want to swap antennas constantly.
  13. I ended up getting two with mine, would have liked the tri band that you got. Yours looks like the Nagoya though the Nagoya sits at 17 inches.
  14. That's a really good point. And that's even a better one... it can be fun though chasing that rabbit.
  15. My Wouxun KG-935H came with the single tri band antenna and it is 14 inches long.
  16. I gotcha, I misunderstood. I think this is the antenna that Buytwowayradios was sending out with the KG-935H before they started shipping it with one tri-band instead of two antennas and yeah it's about 8". I have one and the 320A works better and is enough to help me get to a couple 1.25 repeaters from where I sit but it may work for your needs and I do like that it's shorter and will occasionally use it.
  17. I've tested a few Nagoya and Abbree antennas. I found that it really depends on the brand of radio. I've tried dual band and GMRS antennas. Here are my result with my limited testing of the Nagoya/Abbree 771 dual band or GMRS Baofeng GT-5R and UV-5r GMRS - 771 did better than the stock antennas. Icom IC-T10 - no difference between the 771 and stock antennas Explorer QRZ-1 (TYT UV-88) - 771 just slightly better than stock Several Wouxun radios - stock antennas di better than any of the 771 antennas. I made sure to use the GMRS only 771G with the GMRS radios and the dual band 771 with my dual band radios. I know this is a small sample. As you can see it really depends on the individual radio. You can chase this rabbit all over and spend lots of money and you may or may not see much of an improvement.
  18. I use a Signal Stick which is only 2m/70cm but it glows in the dark (though they say it will "probably work" on GMRS/MURS). I bought it because the Signal Stick guys run hamstudy.org and I wanted to support them. Also it glows in the dark, which amuses me.
  19. you thought 70CM was expensive..
  20. Here's an interesting video I found.
  21. Will do, Gil. Of course everything multi-band is a compromise. I wouldn’t mind testing it with some single band whips.
  22. It wasn't a tri-band. It was 2 meters/1.25 meters. I doubt a good tri-band could be made that short. Sometimes I'd like to be able to use 1.25 meters without that 18" antenna flopping around.
  23. Steve let me know if you find one you like or even one you’re thinking of. I’d like to get one as well for my KG-Q10H. I always have room for more antennas, maybe not as many as Josh.
  24. I have a Diamond RH77CA with a BNC connector on my FT5DR. It works when shorter antennas just don’t, but I don’t have access to a large number of antennas like the HRCC video tested. https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/dmn-rh77ca I wouldn’t mind picking up a different Tri-band antenna for my VX-6 and I’d really like to get a decent four band 6 m, 2 m, 1.25 m and 70 cm antenna for my VX-7.
  25. 200 watts isn't QRP.
  26. 8" sounds more like a 701. I have an Airband antenna rated for 100MHz-300MHz which should be good for not only Airbands but also 2M, 1.25M and MURS. I'll check out the 320A, thanks.
  27. Yeah that's my go to antenna for tri-band also, I just added a link to my post. I haven't seen any tri-bands at 8 inches, I would be skeptical, though I do like shorter if it works.
