    Classified area?

If there is significant interest in this, I would be happy to add it to the website. I like RadioReference's approach of making classifieds free to browse but require a paid membership of some kind to post listings. On one hand it helps fund the website, and on the other it helps prevent spam postings and people who aren't serious sellers from posting nonsense. If anyone else is interested, please chime in!

I used to hear a guy who had a vox activated intercom on GMRS freqs sitting beside his scanner. I think he was trying to use it be able to hear his scanner somewhere else in the house, didn't realize it could be heard further away. It didn't last long, as you could always hear personal stuff being discussed too...I think he would forget to turn the vox off. I guessed it was a .5 to 1 watt, something like the ones Audiovox made. I was speculating that I was within a half mile of him. If you are getting a good signal, odds are someone is doing it intentionally, people wanting to do "neat" stuff all time, and either don't care it is not legal, or ignorant to the rules.

  6. If you're still working on this, here is a very helpful video on repeater work specifically using a Baofeng UV-5R. (I use a UV-5RA, and the menu functions are still the same.) Link is on the bottom. The video will demonstrate everything, but basically there are two ways of doing this. In Frequency mode, you can enter the desired RX frequency (467.700) then press the following: "Menu 26" and then "Menu" again (This is the Off-Set Frequency Setting) Enter the desired "Off-Set" amount (005.000) and then press "Menu" to confirm. Now you press the down arrow on your key pad (Which is the Menu 25 position) Press "Menu" again to confirm your SFT - D (Shift Direction) Press arrow up or down to scroll your selection (In your case it's a - ) Press "Menu" to confirm And there you have it, RX of 467.700 and a TX of 462.700 If you want a hard save in Channel Mode, I would follow the advice of the others above and use the CHIRP software and NOT the UV5R VIP. CHIRP will allow you to set the RX frequencies, set your off-set and direction in one sitting. I hope this helps Glenn WQQL570 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KrH86Dzhnc
