On reflection, I should have bought the aluminum tripod base and six aluminum poles instead of the very expensive MFJ tripods. It would have been far more portable, weighed a LOT less, and been a heck of a lot cheaper! Ah well, hindsight is only depressing...1 point

Wouxoun makes good stuff. Ive got one of their KGUV8D HTs thats a nice radio. Dual band, dual reciever, cross band repeater, color screen ect. Rx and tx are clear. It cost quite a bit more than a Baofeng but its a more capable and nicer radio to boot. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk1 point

Still no wideband. Still no split tones. I don't expect that to change anytime soon. Just an assumption on my part, but I think the target market for their GMRS products are non-tech people who want an OTC product that works out of the box with no special knowledge or prep.1 point

Not at all.. I don't even remember who might have said that, and it certainly didn't bother me - I'd pretty much decided on the used-radios route after learning here I could do better than Midland stuff. Learned more about GMRS here than I thought there was to know.1 point
