    Midland Ad

I was disappointed in Midland the other day after seeing an ad of theirs on Facebook. It was advertising the Micro Mobiles (GMRS) for use in a commercial business. I commented that while this could be done if the business was family operated and the family using the radios had a license, it was very unlikely, or maybe hit and miss would be best, that a pilot car company trucking things cross country would be all family operated only affair and that I thought that it was misleading the public on the proper use of GMRS. Now, use of the FRS handhelds would be fine. Call me a stickler, but there is right and there is wrong.

  2. Well, if you do research right, you could get Kenwood 7180 and 8180, giving you VHF and UHF in the same style radio. This would give you VHF and UHF with GMRS and MURS. There is also an additional kit if I remember which would connect both radio decks to one faceplate so it would look like one radio doing both VHF and UHF. And note there are several Kenwood radios that can do this sort of thing.

  3. Just, FYI, FCC compliance is binary, You either have it, or you don’t. I.e. there is no partial compliance.

  5. Scott, I could not agree more! Unless you have the $$$'s to rent space on a tall tower (200' or more), then it is an exercise in futility.
