Doesn’t say anything about being able to program on a computer.  I see in the picture the port that might be used for that is blocked off with a silver plug.  🤔

I did find a link to download programming software for it (SUPPORT PAGE), but there is no manual to download yet.  Also, it does say it includes a programming cable.

    What’s in the box?
    1 x DB40-G GMRS Mobile Radio
    1 x Handheld Microphone
1 x Power Cable with Fuse Tube
    1 x Mounting Bracket
    1 x Spare Fuse Tube
    1 x Microphone Bracket
    1 x Programming Cable
    1 x User Manual

  3. I just saw this last night, Radioddity has a new 40 watt mobile coming out:  https://www.radioddity.com/collections/consumer-radios-frs-gmrs-radios/products/radioddity-db40-g

I wonder who really makes this radio, Anytone or maybe TYT?

You guys have been really cool to this newcomer. Thanks! I was looking into these two radios for mobile and see that they are almost the same price. So it seems like a no brainer to get the 25. But I have heard that some have had issues with the 25. What say ye? Thanks again!

Looks like Radioddity has the DB-20G on sale today for $84.99.  That is a great deal.

I have two DB-20G radios and love them (approx. 18 watts max).  I don't have any experience with the DB-25G but have heard that it really does not put out 25 watts.

I am in the process of using one of the DB-20G radios and an ammo can like storage container and 12v 12ah battery to make a go-box.

As the title says, I’m sure it is because, as notarubicon says, use your google machine which has failed me. I’m 100percent a noob, and without further ado, are frequencies 463,464,465 and 466 and all of the corresponding numbers after the decimal point not gmrs channels? Or are you only allowed to use the designated channels that apparently come preprogrammed on a legitimate gmrs radio the ONLY frequencies you can use? Are we really only limited to these channels/ frequencies between 462 and 467 that you can find the list of anywhere on google? Like I can’t use 463.5550, 464.2725 etc as examples? Go ahead and roast me, I’m here to learn, and we don’t learn unless me make a mistake and I’m sure I’ve probably made the dumbest one by even asking. Thanks

And it was not a dumb question for a noob to ask.  Please don't be afraid to ask anything.  Somebody will help....

Well I first “avoid” any radio that is listed as a “g” only radio.  Second I’ve never had the need to do any of this stuff from the radio face.  I use software on my lap top.  It takes me less then 60sevonds to program or change a Chanel name.

I have and do use software, because I have to.  Not so handy if I am out away from the computer.  This discussion was aimed at what seemingly simple things could be added to make it better.  So we don't have to use software when it isn't handy.

    Fixed it for you:

    亲爱的宝峰:

    我看到不久前你们推出了新的GMRS HT(UV-5G Plus)。

"Why can we not set whether a channel can be scanned or not scanned in the menu system?"

Are there any HTs that do have the ability to "lock out" or "avoid" a channel from the radio menu, or even better, from a button? Folks that recognize the quoted words know what I mean.

Yes.  Wouxun KG-935G Plus, for one, lets you choose whether to scan a channel from the menu.

  10. Dear Baofeng:

I see that a short time ago you have come out with a new GMRS HT (UV-5G Plus).  It looks like a pretty nice upgrade, but I think once again you have missed an opportunity to make a pretty nice radio into a really nice radio.  My complaint falls entirely in the menu system.  1.  Why can we not change/enter a channel name in the menu system? 2. Why can we not set whether a channel can be scanned or not scanned in the menu system?

Baofeng, I think if you fixed just these two things your radios would move up a notch in the value/quality matrix.

I would really like to buy this radio to add to my collection, but I don't want to frustrate myself.

    Thank you for listening.

I have a KG1000P and a Ed Fong GMRS antenna. was told to use Messi & Paoloni Ultra Flex 10 . this cable is about 1/2" in diameter which will not work for my install. is there a smaller diameter cable that will work in 50' length?

I am using 50' Browning BR-400 with good luck:   https://shop.mygmrs.com/collections/antennas/products/browning-br-400-low-loss-rf-coax-cable-assembly

he said he was at the dump so he was about 8 miles away from me i have a anytone AT-778UV i downloaded the info from the website and programed it with chirp i don't understand how they know its not a pro radio honestly i feal bad about it maybe talking on the repeaters is not for me and i just need to stick with point to point

I do believe your Anytone is a decent radio.  I have two Radioddity DB-20Gs which are the same as the Anytone AT-779 and they do just fine.  Alot of issues are caused by terrain, etc. not necessarily the radio per se.

    Low- 2 watts

    Med- 4.5 watts

    High- 8 watts

Hey thanks for the update.  I have seen on Randy's You-Tube video that his was putting out about 7 watts, but I was a bit suspicous that he had been sent a souped up version.  This is good news and I may have to break down and get one.  Thanks again!!!

Just got time to mess with it, and yes the antenna is removable one you remove the very small hex screw it can be removed. There is a small issue and that is the backlight and green LED on the top stays on when the radio is receiving signal (Not transmission), this drains the battery very fast. I have ask Retevis about this and they say it normal. I have asked if the can firmware fix this making it so the signal strength indicator doesnt trigger the backlight and LED. We will have to wait and see. But great radio despite that.

Good info!!!  Thank you and if you find anything else interesting, please let us know.

I just got mine today, after messing with it it dose look like a hex screw for the antenna. Once I have a driver that can remove it I can update.
One thing that does bother me is the backlight stays on when you have signal, the backlight will not shut off at all.
But the rest of the radio so far is a solid radio, Front end programing is easy but I do have a cable that will be here tomorrow so I can get it all set up with the fine touchs.

Anything you want to know ask and ill try to answer.

Great!  Keep us up to date, especially about the antenna...

The only 50 watt mobile GMRS radio with a removable face is the Wouxun KG-1000G. And the only 50 watt radio with all controls and screen in the mic is the Midland MXT575, all others are either 15 or 20 watts.

The Wouxun KG-100G is currently out of stock.

This vendor is shipping on 11/03:  Wouxun KG-1000G Plus GMRS Base/Mobile Two Way Radio (buytwowayradios.com)
