GaDalek got a reaction from TonyMLake in B-Tech GMRS V1 Repeater Programing
    Hi jmcconomy,
The GMRS V-1 is a nice radio.   I have one and use it often.  To program the radio using chip is not hard once you understand what info goes where.   I will try to explain it so I don't confuse you.   For example using a repeater on channel 18.   If the input is 467..625, the output is 462.625.  If you have a PL tone of 555.5 (not a real tone, just used as an example) , here is what you would enter in chirp.  Repeater channel 18 for the GMRS V-1 is line #18 in chirp.

    Frequency = 462.625
    Tone Mode = TSQL
    Tone & Tone Sql = 555.5 ( enter actual tone from MyGMRS.com)
    Cross Mode = Tone-Tone

That should get your repeater channel programmed in.   If you have any other questions, I will try to answer them

Hope this helps and enjoy your radio.

    HI Pantherpaw9,
I was not able to try and reach a repeater from 285,  After I left home I found out my radio's battery was dead.  Oh well,  I will try again later.

    Hi Pantherpaw9,

The 4Seasons repeater is not part of the North Georgia GMRS network so they would not be able to talk to you on the Sassafras Repeater.   If they can reach the Pine Log repeater from their location, you would be able to talk to each other since the repeaters are linked.  They may be able to reach Sassafras from there.  I can not say for certain, but I think I am able to reach Pine Log from I285 and Roswell road.  With out being in the area I can not remember, getting too old.   Looking at the NG GMRS membership list it appears that you also got the Zello link and they could use that with their smart phones.

I'm part of the North Ga GMRS group and that repeater is working.  Can you check to see if the radio has the correct PL tones entered?  You said the manual said it was pre-programmed with the correct ones but you never know.   I have a GMRS V1 that keeps turning off the transmit setting.  You may want to check on that.  Since you said you could reach the repeater with your Baofeng, listen for the weekly net and ask for help during that time.   Everyone is very helpful on the net.  If they don't know the answer, someone will find it for you.   I think it is now on Thursdays @ 8pm.   Good luck.

    Hi Dan,
I have not received the e-mails for the last few weeks.   I just went to the main site and under preferences, I selected to receive the updates.  I will let you know if they start again.

Unfortunately you can not add more channels to the GMRS V-1 as far as transmitting.  You can add channels to listen only.  Otherwise I love my V-1 and use it all the time.

I found this on the Milkor web site.
    Adding a Transmit Tone
    to a GMRS Channel

This example is for CTCSS Tone:  141.3Hz

    1.   Select the desired GMRS channel

    2.   Enter the CTCSS tone
            [Menu]   1 3   [Menu]   1 4 1 3   [Menu]   [Exit]
    or
[Menu]   1 3   [Menu]           [Menu]   [Exit

If that doesn't help let me known and I will try to help more. Good luck and I think you will enjoy your V-1. I know I enjoy using mine
