  1. No point in trying to have an intelligent conversation with a name-caller!
  2. Rather than call you names, I will simply point out that no one on this thread, including you, has reported hearing “Los Angeles rioters on GMRS!”
  3. Just as I suspected: hardly a credible source for anything “political”
  4. You seem reluctant to disclose the Ham frequencies involved.
  5. Now that Chirp supports the DB20-G it is literally the best choice analog GMRS/Ham Radio dual bander for the price!
  6. Which Ham freq?
  7. The DB20-G and the DB25-G are two completely different radios.
  8. And in the mind of the developer of the DB20-G driver for Chirp, too! (thank you @WRNC421 for your confirmation testing!) And if the Queen had balls, she'd be KING!
  9. It was not obvious because my statement is factually correct and yours is, at best, irrelevant! Your making a statement about “features” of the DB20-G in Chirp that you admit you have not even tested! But whether it works or not in Chirp, transmission on Channels 8-14 has been available on the “opened” DB20-G since Day One! No need for testing in Chirp! Furthermore, IMHO, transmitting on Channels 8-14 at 20 watts and/or Wideband FM, is morally reprehensible! The ONLY time one should be doing that, if at all; is if they heard a weak signal on Channels 8-14 requesting EMERGENCY help!
  10. It is not clear to me what point of mine you are disagreeing with here. I have previously linked to a “GMRS” codeplug for DB20-G use consistent with Part 95E rules after “opening” the DB20-G. Transmission on Channels 8-14 on a mini-mobile is NOT consistent with Part 95E.
  11. Chirp has been instrumental in helping “unlock” certain GMRS radios that come from the factory locked down to satisfy FCC requirements. The Baofeng UV-5X(G) comes to mind. Since the DB20-G has an easy procedure from day one to “open” it using its keypad, using Chirp to enable transmission on Channels 8-14 is superfluous.
  12. Yeah: it is from the format you chose to use for your original post. I suspected it was inadvertent! its a true PITA! I avoid most of the threads that use this style, but I am committed to following up on DB20-G support.
  13. It would also help to know which dated version of ChirpNext he is using. He was not very cooperative when I asked him for more specifics about his situation...
  14. Technically speaking some radios' CPS software is still required to be able to change certain non-Channel oriented settings that are not covered in Chirp and hence in those situations, I prefer the OEM CPS software for sure! PS: Why did you select this clunky "let's vote on each response" style of dialogue for this issue?!? I find it distracting, annoying and downright unhelpful for reading a commentary on these issues!
  15. I have been using Windows 11, 10 and even XP in Parallels for years on my collection of Macs to be able to program my collection of wireless radios that are not Chirp compatible. At this point, it is about the only reason left that I continue to have to use Windows at all!
  16. Is that the Redman1 repeater?
  17. RT has the history and reputation for quality software and it will always beat out both “free” manufacturers software and “free” Chirp! I keep a master programming list in Excel saved in the universal text format: CSV
  18. Will Rogers never met you in person, either!
  19. Using the YouTube video as a reference point, at about 17:20 in, you see the Radioddity software: If you double click on the "double caret" below the word "More" for the Channel you want to edit, it should bring up the window for changes: Does this work for you?
  20. You guys just love to come together and Bully someone!
  21. For $20 from AliExpress I purchased the UV-13Pro and achieved the same results.
  22. WRONG! Bullies don’t like to be called:”Bullies!”
  23. Welcome to myGMRS! Just ignore the “Bullies!” Many of us here actually enjoy answering questions, and took heed when our Mothers taught us: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say it!”
  24. Also Miklor has a tutorial for building a K-1 to RJ-45 adapter to allow the FTDI "baofeng" type K-1 USB cables to work with the DB20-G: https://www.miklor.com/COM/Project_K1Adapter.php
  25. I found this online and it may be somewhat out of date, but try them: Some Operational Tips: Open up the Ham 2 meter and 70 cm bands to transmit on the USA version: 1) Turn off the power. 2) While holding down the V/M button, turn on the power. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to change from the GMRS setting on the display to 136-174 MHz; 400-470 MHz and now power down. 3) When you power back up licensed operators can now transmit on the GMRS channels and the 2 meter and 70 cm Ham bands. NOTE: This can easily be accomplished with the provided software too. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Giving a Channel an alphanumeric name without using a computer: 1) Go to the appropriate Channel 2) Push the FUN button and using the V/M and MAIN buttons to go through the Menu items until you reach Function 29: DSPCHANNEL and using the Up and Down arrow buttons, select NAME. Push the FUN button to exit the Function menu. 3) Push the FUN button and using the V/M and MAIN buttons to go through the Menu items until you reach Function 12: CHANNEL NAME. Using the Up and Down Arrow buttons, scroll through the list of 1-0, A-Z and a-z to find the first letter. When you do find it, push the MON button to confirm that character and move to the 2nd position. Repeat as necessary until up to 8 characters are entered. 4) Save the NAME to the proper channel by pushing Fun and UP on the microphone and then use the UP and DN keys on the mic to scroll to the proper channel number (and frequency noted at the bottom of the screen). 5) Save the NAME to this channel holding down the "MON-*" key on the mic. 6) Push the FUN button and you are done! ---------------------------------------------------------------- Programming a repeater channel without using a computer: 1) Switch to VFO mode (from Channel Mode) using the V/M key 2) Using the number keys on the mic, enter the repeater's output frequency 3) On the mic, push FUN then 9 repeatedly until the proper split (+ or - or blank for Off) appears above the frequency. 4) Press the FUN key on the Radio and use the V/M and Main keys as an up/down to get to function 10:Offset. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to set your offset split, such as 5.00000MHz or 0.60000MHz (you can hold down the Up or Down key to have it continuously change). Once you get to the proper offset, push the FUN key again. 5) Press the FUN key on the Radio and go to Function 01:T-CDC (press the MON key to cycle between OFF, [analog] tone, [analog] tone-edit, [digital] tone N, [digital] tone I and back to OFF again as needed) and use the Up and Down keys to find the proper transmit PL Tone. Use the same method to optionally set the proper receive PL Tone, if necessary, on Function 02:R-CDC (or Function 03: RT-CDC if both tones are the same) 6) You can rotate through High, Medium and Low transmit power using FUN and 0 (zero) on the mic. 7) Save to the first open channel by pushing Fun and UP on the microphone (or then use the UP and DN keys on the mic to scroll through the available channels, with empty ones saying NULL Save to this channel holding down the "MON-*" key on the mic and you are done! ---------------------------------------------------------------- Use DCS Digital Tones: Go to desired channel Press FUN on mic Press 1 on mic Go to menu 1 using V/M or Main key on mic Press number 1 on mic to cycle to 000 N display for menu 1 Use up and down on mic to scroll to code corresponding to desired DCS code. List is in the instructions. Use V/M or Main to go to menu item 2. Repeat selection process Press DIL on mic to exit. _________________________________________________________________ New Radioddity DB20-G CPS software V2.02 1. Change the default bandwidth from Narrow to Wide. 2. Address the bug that "when repeater TX frequency change, RX frequency automatically match" ----------------------------------------------------------------
