  1. Yes, I also have the cable that uses the stable FTDI chip. I also have a USB to K-1 FTDI chip cable and I made the Miklor K-1 to RJ-45 adapter, so that both cables, the FTDI with adapter and the Radioddity USB CH340 cables work for me in Windows 11. Any working USB cable/radio in a Windows 11 storm!
  2. I assume you mean the DB25-G and I have no experience with that radio. Can that model be opened to the Ham bands? I do have the DB25-D, which is effectively the DB20-G plus DMR Good luck!
  3. Sorry it did not work out for you, but I understand the need to return it within the deadline. Let us know what you decide to use. Good luck!
  4. Interesting. My firmware is 2.34 and I am not aware of any public distribution of version 3.00. I wonder if this firmware requires an updated hardware version of the DB20-G, but I doubt it.
  5. With the power off, hold down the V/M key and turn the power on and let me know which version firmware is installed. Here is my earlier post solving the Windows 10 problem with the CH340 install software that now also works with Windows 11. I obtained the "Anytone 2023 USB driver.zip" software from a retailer who sells the DB20-G clone, the Anytone AT-779UV and it is linked at the bottom of my old post (it works with both my Radioddity DB20-G and my Anytone AT-779UV): Even though you have attempted to install the CH340 before, I suggest you uninstall the CH343 driver and use the linked software to install and try out the CH340 driver again. I think we are getting close...
  6. 9 out of 10 problems with Programming Software on Windows is the archaic system it uses to install drivers. On Windows 11, my Device Manager indicates that I have installed the CH340 driver and that one works. I see your previous post indicates you tried it previously, but... Somewhere on this forum, there is software to install the CH340 driver in Windows 11. I will look for it...
  7. What version of Windows are you currently running? When and from whom did you buy this radio? Have you tried running the Software NOT as an administrator? By “I made sure that the COM port was correct” does the Radioddity software recognize more than one COM port?
  8. The RJ-45 pin out for the DB20-G should be on Miklor but listed for its clone Anytone AT-779UV Let me know if you still cannot find it.
  9. Except that the DB20-G is an RJ-45 connector and not the K-1. is that a “Miklor” DIY cable? They do have a DIY K-1 to RJ-45 adapter which allows my FTDI K-1 cable to work on the DB20-G.
  10. 99 out of 100 problems on the Forum about the DB20-G are “user errors!”
  11. Let me look into my Magic 8-Ball: It say: “You have installed more than one serial driver, and have selected the wrong COM port in the Radioddity CPS software.”
  12. No mobile is allowed to transmit on Channels 8-14; HTs @ 0.5 watts only!
  13. My mistake, I guess, for reading your comment: "since I never had much luck with the manufacturer/model specific software from Radioddity for any of my radios" as you having problems with your Radioddity radio's Radioddity software. Since you have Baofengs, I understand your attraction to CHIRP as opposed to Baofeng's specific software.
  14. As there is for almost all radios! Congratulations and Enjoy! NOTE: I hate this "feature" where posts are default listed by votes and I have to manually change to Sort By Date, so that I do not miss any important posts!
  15. Which Radioddity radios do you own whose software you have never had much luck with? Not sure why you are criticizing the DB20-G's ability to show your call sign on its startup screen:
  16. The Radioddity DB20-G a/k/a Anytone AT-779UV has a somewhat unique "hidden" feature embedded in it. When the programming cable is connected to a computer that is connected to the internet, it scans this Forum to see what comments, if any, the owner of that particular radio has made about the radio and/or its programming software. The radio then treats it owner accordingly! Those of us owners who know how to treat our radios and comment online, don't have this Define Starting Display problem!
  17. 1) Push FUN button 2) Using the V/M button as UP and MAIN button as DOWN, go to Menu Item 29:DSPCHANNEL. Using the UP ARROW KEY (^) as UP and the DOWN ARROW KEY as DOWN, change CH to NAME. 3) Press the FUN button again to exit Menu Mode You should now be able to toggle between VFO and Channel Modes. @OffRoaderX would have told you this tip, but he was too busy being snarky to others whose only “crime” is wanting to help others on this Forum.
  18. Some third party distributors include instructions for how to open it; especially for the Anytone AT-779UV clone. Amazon user comments have the instructions for the DB20-G. And that’s MR DUDE to you!
  19. Let us know if you need instructions in more detail to manually program your DB20-G, or if the posted instructions work for you. Is yours set to GMRS mode or have you “opened” it to get more flexibility when programming manually?
  20. And doesn’t Midland charge a “premium” for such “features?”
  21. I believe the answers you have received to date have confused the concept of: 1) What is the topic of the Net? with... 2) What Service/Band/Frequency is the Net located so that I can attempt to tune them in? MURS does not allow for Repeaters on that service, so my guess it is that, although a Net can be Simplex (in the example to allow for the FRS'ers to join in), this MURS Net may be conducted on a GMRS Repeater for the benefit of those GMRS'ers who also MURS over a wider area of location. Reminds me of a story I used to tell to young Interns back in the 90s who worked at my wife's Production Company that needed to learn how to operate the company's Macintosh computers when the predominant computers were PC/Windows: My Wife came back from Italy with a VHS tape of an Italian motion picture that she wanted to remake in the USA. Unfortunately it was encoded in the European PAL system of video and our VHS VCRs used the US NTSC system. I took the tape to a location production services company and had them copy it over to a VHS NTSC tape. When my wife inserted the VHS NTSC tape into our VCR started to watch it, she exclaimed: "But it is still in Italian!"
  22. Somewhere on the Forum somebody posted a Template in Python that he claimed would allow you to merge a CSV file into the Radioddity DB20-G software so as to make programming somewhat akin to CHIRP! I downloaded the Python template, but I have reached the point of my life where I do not like to research something that I will only do once. SO: not knowing how to program Python, I am a bit reticent to study up all the time it would take to learn to run Python on either my Mac or in Windows.
  23. Did Midland ever fix those units to be able to run WideBand FM instead of the default Narrow Band?
  24. I may have said this before, but I added to my Radioddity DB20-G and Anytone AT-779UV; a Radioddity DB25-D. In effect this is a DMR version of these radios with the same analog capabilities with the addition of DMR worldwide capability for a reasonable price ($180-$210)
