Radioddity sells their radios like hotcakes and has good customer support. i suspect it is your setup. Do you have access to another Windows computer?

I don’t think Midland radios are very good.
WRYS709 replied to SvenMarbles's topic in General Discussion
So you’re effectively saying: “if you desire to pay higher prices for limited features, these are the radios for you!” Maybe years ago… There are just too many cheaper, more efficient alternatives available to continue to follow this practice any more! -

Negative experiences with Midland Radios seems to be a popular tooic on this Forum; and they are so expensive, too! They seem popular with the “Jeep Crowd” here! -
I have the GM-30 but not the newer, different radio, the GM-30 Plus. Are you saying the Programming Software fror the GM-30 works on the new GM-30 PLUS?
-
Radioddity generally has good support. Which version Windows are you using? How did you install the USB drivers for this cable? Do you know for sure that Device Manager is showing you the COM for this device as opposed to other devices you may have previously installed? Windows device installation is a “dark art!”

Chirp Error Code "short read of the block 0x0000"
WRYS709 replied to AndyOnTheRadio's question in Technical Discussion
I never read of such problems with their DB20-G. -
You might want to delay help until they are licensed and become a registered member of this forum. According to the FCC WSCF455 was licensed in April, 2024; why a guest?

Yes, depending upon the configuration picked it can receive and transmit on GMRS/MURS, Ham 2 meters and 440 MHz, too. GMRS and MURS have FCC regulations which require specific FCC approval for radios used to transmit on these frequencies and this radio does not have this type approval for MURS.

Do they charge an additional charge for the Mac version, once you have purchased the Windows version?

No matter which radio you use to communicate on the 30 GMRS channels, FCC approved or not, you are still restricted to talking to other GMRS'ers!

Anybody with experience using the Radioddity DB25-D?
WRYS709 replied to WRYS709's topic in Amateur Radio (Ham)
What do you mean by this sentence? The DB25-D now comes with two separate CPS software programs: 1) The original Radioddity CPS v3.3; and 2) The CPEditor, written by MM7DBT, which most agree is the better software to use. -
You see... that's the problem in this country: You give someone a "choice" and they make their choice; and then THEY want to force their "choice" on everyone, claiming: "like it supposed to be in the first place!"

I want to congratulate you for going out of your way to not infringe on YouTube’s Intellectual Property and Trade Name Rights!

Well, anecdotally speaking, my history of radios do not: Baofeng UV-5R Baofeng UV-5x3 Radiodditu RD-5R Baofeng DM-5R TYT-88UV Pofung GM-30 Radioddity DB20-G Radioddity DB-25D So imagine my excitement when for $24 I acquired a Baofeng UV-13Pro and retired all my other non-DMR HTs!!!
-
Mr Natural says:”Get the right tool for the job!” Baifeng UV-13Pro Ham Radio open to GMRS and MURS, even scans tones on Repeater Inputs for War-Driving, $24
-
Last time I checked your Ham Radio license is still active until 2030 and and you are coming dangerously close to Randy's definition of a "sad Ham!"
-
And yet, you took time from your busy day to repeat your point when nowhere did I say anything about “both services!”
-
My mistake for using language that was not clear. I would hope that this thread does not get bogged down in the “FCC Rules Police” debate. As noted by some, there are easy ways to open these radios and yet keep them operating within the structures of FCC Rules. That is their power, versatility and abilities for such a bargain price! Let’s get back to programming questions about the RT Software for these versatile radios
-
Using channels 8 through 14 on a mobile is somewhat controversial as a violation of part 95E rules The reason being that you are transmitting higher power than was intended on these interstitial channels very close to repeater input channels
-
Yes, it automatically restores the basic 30 channels. You should do a backup of your current library of channels now using the Radioddity/Anytone software and again when you acquire RT’s software. Then you will have the ability to easily restore your library of repeaters/settings, etc Rather than overwrite my code plugs as I modify them, I just save a new file with date and time. This way I can always go back to an earlier code plug, if I screw the new one up for any reason
-
Actually the Radioddity software, for free, is very versatile; but is very limited in capabilities for: import, export and copy & paste. So the RT Systems addition Is now very welcome! As to your noted point, yes, once you use the Radioddity software to change Tones, it is helpful to change the Squelch setting to match as well.
-
I reset my Anytone to US-GMRS, and downloaded the radio into RT Systems for you to view and even use the attached RTS code plug, as you desire: AT-779UV GMRS.default 202501191600.AT779UV
