  1. Radioddity software version 2.02? channels 31-54?
  2. You used Menu #13 to set CTCSS as 162.2? I advise that you keep Menu #11 - Rx CTCSS as OFF. What happens when you attempt to access this repeater? Have you driven closer to it?
  3. Yes, you put the member's screen name preceded by a @ symbol; such as: @WRYS709 And that will send that member a notification that you have mentioned him in a post. The other way is to send a private message (through the envelope at the top), if you want to keep it from being posted to others.
  4. Did your GM-15 come with a USB programming cable? If so, do you have a computer with Windows XP or later? Which repeater only 3 miles away are you trying to reach: The Evanston 725 or the Lincolnwood 575? Using my Baofeng UV-13Pro, which is the Ham Radio version of their GM-15, I would program Evanston 725 from the keyboard, this way: Go to Channel 30, which is the preprogrammed channel for the 725 repeater; Then push the MENU button and press the UP arrow key until you get to Menu #13 - Tx CTCSS and then press Menu Again and either "OFF" or a tone number, such as "67.0" will appear and use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to get to "100.0" and then press MENU again to confirm and store 100.0 into channel 30. Now press EXIT. Now try to transmit to the repeater again and see if you hear the "tail" of the repeater after you "kerchunk" the Push-To-Talk button. Try it outside and even take a ride to the location of the repeater and try again. Identify yourself with your callsign and ask if anyone can hear you. Good luck and report back! Now to go back to sleep! Be sure to stop at SuperDawg on the way home!
  5. My apologies, Alfred. As noted by Brian, who joined this forum 24 hours after he obtained his GMRS license, I DID get up on the wrong side of the bed, this morning!

A Guest asking for advice about using repeaters?!? Get a license; join this forum. Put a little skin in the game, or move along!
  7. Why are you a Guest? If you are using repeaters, you need a GMRS license and should join this forum. Otherwise, in my estimation: move along! Nothing to see here!
  8. Your last question was for the Radioddity DB25-G; is this request a typo?
  9. I think you just did; nice work!
  10. I don't have any direct experience with Midlands, but from what I read here on this forum, some models, especially the older ones, tend to be programmed (or even fixed in firmware) for Narrow Band FM. Be sure to try to change it to Wide Band FM for better audio compatibility with your DB20-G and Repeaters.
  11. Is there an echo in here!? How does the DB20-G compare in fars to your Kenwood? It out performs my Yaesu FT-857d on FM, but that's 20 watts compared to 20 watts. Your Kenwood is up to 65 watts?
  12. OMG: which radio is on the dash?
  13. Two problems with that mount: 1) You're blocking the speaker on the bottom with the seat and 2) In my experience, it gets HOT! Does not look like there is enough space for cooling.
  14. Yes, that is on the "output" of the repeater, 462.xyz; I was suggesting you take a road trip to get closer to the repeater and when you can hear people on the "input" of the repeater, 467.xyz, then you are pretty assured you are close enough to also trigger the repeater, if your radio is setup properly.
  15. You can tell more about that antenna than I can from that photo: Then why would he need an adapter?
  16. There is a post on this forum somewhere that shows how to use an inexpensive plumbers cap to make a cup-holder mount that easily connects to that radio; I use one in the EV with the cigarette lighter plug and a $20 dual band mag-mount from Letsgetreadyinc.com In my shack I find that the DB20-G outperforms my Yaesu FT-857d FM on 2 meters and 440 MHz with the rooftop antenna. Let me know if you can get Odmaster to work; I am not optimistic as some reports on the Chirp website say Radioddity used a non-common serial port protocols in their communications protocol with the RJ-45 cable.
  17. Great savings for a hearty HT and an awesome mini-mobile! Let me know if you have any DB20-G questions...
  18. Never hurts to have a road trip to near the repeater and see if you can also hear others on the input frequency and then contact them through the repeater.
  19. How is he supposed to put a BNC antenna on his SMA HT without an adapter?
  20. I use Windows 11 in Parallels on my M1 2020 Mac Mini and it works fine on programming CPS software for my radios that require Windows. It even installed the experimental firmware on my Quansheng UV-K5(8) so that now I can communicate with others on SSB on 2 meters.
  21. Thanks for pointing that out. Now I can follows these threads again.
  22. Can someone explain to me this style of thread, where instead of posts being listed chronologically, their listed in some obscure order (voting?)? I am now reticent to post on these threads, because I cannot tell who is responding to what! Maybe there is a "switch" that allows me to read them chronologically again?
  23. Except for the fact that FRS is a system where the license is provided by rule. If you make a DIY FRS radio, no matter what wattage you set it for it becomes unlicensed and all users are violating Part 95E. Maybe you don't care, in which case, what we answer is irrelevant. If you want FRS, buy FRS. If you use GMRS, get a license.
  24. No, ultimately it was defective, so I sent it back to China for a refund. Subsequently, I was given one in a swap and I will use it with the Radioddity DB25-D that I acquired recently.
