WSAE510 got a reaction from GrouserPad in zello app linking
According to the FCC it's not illegal to link repeater to Zello channels. I called them and they said that it is NOT illegal those who says its illegal is wrong

WSAE510 reacted to WSHH887 in Tidradio H8 H3 Handhelds
Socalgmrs a question. What brands do you own? Or did you build it yourself like Hams of old did?
Pardon me, that was two questions. Maybe that is causing his lack of response.

WSAE510 reacted to LeoG in Tidradio H8 H3 Handhelds
Cheap chynese Radio. Must be horrible. And people have had problems with them that the company has resolved quickly. How horrible.
Might as well spend 4 to 5 times as much and get a quality radio with many less features that you can only program with a computer instead of the keyboard on the fly.

WSAE510 reacted to TrikeRadio in Tidradio H8 H3 Handhelds
Yep, I have a pair of H3's and they work great. Love the ease of programming, the duel frequency watch, e display that shows the channel custom name, Channel number, as well as the frequency! Also like the size - easy to stash in a pocket or strap to a bike handle (one thing I use them for). And their range always surprises me (the stock antennas are surprisingly better than one might expect... but I like to put the 771G on them and they perform much better.

WSAE510 reacted to SvenMarbles in So who here uses GMRS properly?
Not meant to be a divisive or abrasive topic. It's laid out pretty clearly what the spirit of GMRS is. Not 70cm lite.. Less for "rag chews" and "making contacts" and more for having radios in the family cars to home. Or a group or family on a ski trip, event, or off roading keeping track of eachother... Repeaters meant to be more local to get up over a hill... Not for yelling "WHISKEY SIERRA ALFA TANGO 423 Monitoring!". For people with some other stated goal and using radio as an aid, and not just "being on the radio".
Functional use..

WSAE510 reacted to SteveShannon in Foxhunt on GMRS
No, the Fox is sending a one way transmission, which is only allowed for certain reasons. Foxhunting isn’t one of them. Here is the list of approved one-way communications:
b) One-way communications. The operator of a GMRS station may use that station to transmit one-way communications:
(1) To call for help or transmit other emergency communications;
(2) To provide warnings of hazardous road conditions to travelers; or,
(3) To make brief test transmissions.

WSAE510 got a reaction from SteveShannon in Permission for using gmrs call sign by those not in same household
Thanks for the help at least you're not rude happy new year

WSAE510 reacted to SteveShannon in Permission for using gmrs call sign by those not in same household
The regulations say nothing about being in the same household. They simply say:
Any individual who holds an individual license may allow his or her immediate family members to operate his or her GMRS station or stations. Immediate family members are the licensee's spouse, children, grandchildren, stepchildren, parents, grandparents, stepparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
But they do require that the licensed individual retain control of his/her stations while being used by someone they have authorized.

WSAE510 got a reaction from JBRPong in Btech GMRS 50V2 Mobile
This Btech GMRS 50V2 Mobile unit is doing well and it's able to use up to 50 watts. It can also be able to go from 50, 20, and 5 watts. I'm on the local repeater and York Maine repeater system. So far it's been working great.

WSAE510 got a reaction from AdmiralCochrane in Permissible use
I recently reread the FCC rules regarding certain communications
allowed. One example is that I gave a warning of a motorcycle
accident. one person tried to tell me that it was a violation
of the FCC rules. as it would be, I read to them what it says and that
I was in right plus I called the FCC to have them verify that I was in the right.
FCC said that I actually prevented someone from arriving to a hazardous
situation and to have them rerouted for safety
So this ruling of what I did was legal

WSAE510 reacted to LeoG in Setting up a base unit
Get a LiFePO4 battery for the base station to keep that up and running for a while. Or put solar on it and let it self charge to keep it up and running longer.
