  1. Definitely! Normally quiet on the airwaves around here except for chit chat between regulars, but when that unfolded people were chiming in with what they were experiencing.....Before heading to their basements....I was on the road however and fortunate to get where I was going as the funnel clouds dropped......
  2. Tuesday began the first real test for my GMRS setup as we were hit with 2 tornadoes in Northeast Ohio. Not only was I able to pickup realtime info from other users as it happened but my family has been able to stay in touch as we navigate the aftermath. Solid purchase and invaluable tool.
  3. I've always been of a mind that 'you get what you pay for'. A fair amount of research will help in the decision-making process....
  4. And Guitars.....Theres always one that I MUST have
  5. And I agree with you totally on the Man from U.N.C.L.E. pen!!!
  6. I got mine because of my concern to maintain communication with my family in the event of social calamity or worse. Things have been strange the last few years and while I am generally an optimist, I felt the need to at least have backup comms. I find that our setup works just fine for us.
  7. Hi.....I have had some issues with Lakewood during rough weather (and we've had high winds the last couple days) but otherwise its been flawless for me....
  8. Mmmmm.....Cheese Toasty!
  9. I'm of the opinion that it's good to absorb as much info at the beginning in order to make an informed purchase decision. It is also my experience that 'you get what you pay for'. Me personally I would prefer to spend what I can for quality. And as always, there is enough left for Beer Money!
  10. Received and installed my MXTA26's on both Jeeps and hit 40 miles on a radio check through urban terrain via Lakewood repeater.
  11. I'm located in Parma Heights. I check in a few times a day with a radio check when I am on the road and have found that others are starting to chime in as well. So far with the Lakewood repeater I am able to reach folks in Cleveland, Newburgh Heights, and North Royalton.
  12. I got my GMRS on Feb 29.....It took 2 days......I'm guessing there is a recent avalanche of HAM and GMRS applications that the 1970's vintage government systems cannot handle.....
  13. I find throughout the day folks use all manner of methods of identifying themselves to include just using the last 3 numbers of the call sign as a conversation unfolds....Not having a problem keeping up with chit chat....
  14. Never cheap.......L e s s E x p e n s i v e
