Does Anyone Remember the tricks that were used by Federal or Tactical law enforcement vehicles in the late 60's or Early 70's ?? You wouldn't recognize their cars at all ... Unless you got Right behind them ! The Antennas were Quarterwave antennas, usually Vhf and mounted INSIDE on the rear package shelf of the Rear window ! Under the carpet on that shelf was STEEL and made a Great ground plane !
I use the 2X4 with no ground plane and it's Consistently 1.2 -1.4.1 on 2m/ Murs/70cm/ and Gmrs and even covers 222mhz. @1.5.1 swr although it's not really intended for that band. The previous antennas are no ground plane, but seem to perform better with one.
The Comet SBB-5 are Excellent for mobile and even base use, and are ground independent.
Also the Diamond SG-7900 as well with much more gain, and ground independent, but requires a permanent mount, or a 5" Magnet.
The Anytone Tri band is a great choice too, For HAMS. The AT -5888UVIII which covers 2m/1.25m/70cm. and will RECEIVE Gmrs for those who want to scan it.
Ok, that's Great !! I just graduated from my Skybridge Pi 4 to a Openspot pro4 and I'm much happier with it ! I'm typically lurking on TG3100 or on 91 Worldwide. I have my choices of my Rfinder B1+ or my Anytone 878 or my 578, or my xpr 6550 Maybe we'll yak sometime !
It seems RT Systems has become the go to for programming in both hobbies, and talking with them on the phone is a pleasure. All except for my moto's and a few Kenwoods I think I RT for everything else ! $$$
I'm hoping someday, after reading everyone's comments expressing disgust at his rudeness and Lack of common sense that he may one day have a epiphany and realize that he's being an ASS, but then I'm sure that's asking too much, Oh well.
They're using their call sign, which Doesn't ID the repeater. That's the whole point, is to id the repeater with the call sign of who it's licensed to.
