  1. What did you think was back again? The tariff exemption? Yes, the country of origin determines the amount of taxes/duties/tariffs, etc. It's also based on the value that the shipper puts on the commercial invoice prior to exporting the item. If they classify it as a just a transceiver and put the value at $10 that will raise flags with customs. They will assume it's a brand new transceiver. But if they were to put classify it as a transceiver and add a note like "Item sold for parts only. Value for customs purposes only." They can get away with a smaller amount than the actual price of the radio. But they should still be using a reasonable amount for the value of the parts. This applies to new and used items. If they note that it's being exported to the US for repairs only, customs will be looking for that same item to be re-exported from the US back to wherever it came from. You have a certain amount of time to repair and return it. I deal with this almost daily as part of my job. Even if they note on the commercial invoice that it's a gift, the correct value is still required to be entered. I used to work at a place where we had people in from Brazil. Their taxes/tariffs are out of this world. One of the first things they would do when they got here was to head down the road to Best Buy and load up on electronics and video games. They would have to unbox everything and make it looked a little bit used so that they could declare the items as personal effects. They could claim they left Brazil with them and are now just returning with the same items. Several of those guys were making some serious money selling their personal effects upon return to Brazil.
  2. And from what I can find, the de minimis exemption for China and Hong Kong ended on May 2 of this year. The CCR seem to still be cheap.
  3. I didn't find 85256011 but I found 85256010 and it looks like currently it's 35%. From here: https://hts.usitc.gov/search?query=8525
  4. And that's what I was talking about as well. Did you not see me mention FM in my post? Go back and read it again in case you missed it. And I also said that I know of three people who are using it in their dump trucks. So, someone (3 people actually) is using it.
  5. Well, I'm one of those that had to pass three tests to get my license and I'm not on a pedestal looking down on anyone. And that first bunch of hams that I met didn't know I was active on CB either. They were just a bunch of douches, which is why I didn't hang around their club much longer after I found out their true colors.
  6. The group of guys that I met on air on CB, and in real life, were a lot more welcoming to me than the group I met on air when I first got my ham license. We had more fun than the hams at that time too.
  7. Oh, so "exactly nobody in the US uses FM CB" was just an exaggeration. I get it. But again, there's three users around here that I know of. What's your handle? I'll tell them to give a call out to you if they are ever in your area.
  8. How did you come about with this determination? Do you have a FM CB radio and monitor it for others operating in the FM mode? If so, then you would be someone using FM CB. Or did you conduct a survey and have the results published somewhere? I genuinely would like to know how you came to your conclusion because I know of three people who have a Cobra 25ltd in their dump trucks.
  9. I think you are giving too much credit to these "peaceful protesters" there in LA. Of course their phones are on. How else are they going to live stream their peaceful protest on Facebook or TikTok? I wouldn't be surprised if they were actually using the Zello app though. It was in heavy use during the Jan. 6 event in DC. After that, Zello removed the search option for finding channels. But if you know the channel name, or if someone is sharing the QR code there on the ground, it's easy for several thousands to be added to a channel.
  10. Where did you find this information? Only asking because I didn't see anything on their blog mentioning it. Thanks.
  11. https://zello.com/downloads/desktop/ I can't download it right now on the work PC but I don't know if that download is for the free version or a paid version.
  12. Congratulations.
  13. TLDR. The simple answer to the question is: "It depends".
