Yes, the FCC made a big mistake when they approved HD-FM for use in the US. It's peak was about 2009 and I rarely, if ever, see it as a marketing item for inclusion. The problem, of course, is that the FCC wanted a system that was compatible with existing FM analog radios; whereas DAB and DAB+ are not.

I do not think that is an accurate statement: In the US; perhaps your statement is a hoped-for request. As trademarked and patented by iBiquity, HD-FM and its sub channels requires additional HDR chipsets to function.

Did I mention earlier that the Radioddity RD-5R HT can do GMRS, MURS, 2 meters, 70 cm, analog and DMR? All for only $69! It is basically their GD-77 rebuilt into a UV-5R case, so it uses all the same accessories. And there is an Open Firmware Project on the Internet that expands the capabilities of this handy little radio. One of these days when I have some time to research and tinker, I will install the Open Firmware.

Which radio are you using for 20 watts? As noted above the Radioddity DB-20G a/k/a Anytone AT-779UV a/k/a Retevis Ra-25, all use a cigarette lighter plug for power and transmit up to 20 watts. I use the Anytone in my EV through the cigarette lighter plug.

You missed my point and I am having trouble trying to interpret your latest point. Ignore my comment about Jamming. My point was the 725 GMRS repeater in Los Angeles is full of much of what you complain about, but you point to "Hams" as the culprits; there is plenty of criticism to spread around about how licensed GMRS'ers also operate on the air. I'll let you have the last word on this topic.
