  1. Looks like it will work for MURS, too! The Mavens on this Forum have given me permission to do GMRS/MURS cross band, so I can transmit to you MURS and you can transmit to me GMRS!
  2. Here is a more specific definition of the options of SINGALS (perhaps misspelled SIGNALS) from a different AnyTone radio: On our radio, the default is SQ I know it is not intuitive, but it seems that SQ will solve your problem.
  3. I think I just saved a drive back up to Santa Barbara... As in the video when you change Menu 05: SINGAL from CTC/DCS to SQ, like in my radio, you can hear the net! You are saying that this is the same as turning receive decode off, but the true test will be if it allows the Santa Ynez repeater audio through, but cuts out the audio of the interlopers on the same channel. I believe it will solve your problem! UPDATE: It appears that I can only change the Menu 05: SINGAL setting (SQ or CTC/DCS) when there are split tones (which is illustrated on the LCD screen by a "CT" notation on split tone repeaters).
  4. OMG: you better explain that to 99% of the GMRS users in Southern California (especially the "off-roaders")! ?
  5. Sorry, I got confused about which Santa Ynez repeater! hahaha I guess maybe another drive for me today! Did you try this change from work?
  6. NO: it is tuned for 430-450 Amateur Radio 70 cm band. Bring your SWR meter over and we can measure it on GMRS.
  7. I have the Comet CX-333 Tri-Band amateur radio antenna in use with my Anytone AT-779UV GMRS radio. I do not have a SWR meter. I am able to hit GMRS repeaters easily that are available to me in every direction and it works for 2 meters and MURS on VHF as well.
  8. Part I I have version 2.28 and 2.29 and my friend has 2.33 on his Radioddity DB20G Part II Bob Yuan responded with software from Anytone, which I will try to attach here (but I have not yet installed or examined these files) and that the latest Firmware is 2.30. The Anytone CPS is version 2.01, but I note that Radioddity's version of the CPS is 2.02; I have used both versions, but I do not know what the differences are. I would suggest that you have the latest Firmware, and otherwise wait to use the Firmware updater until all other options are exhausted as doing it incorrectly can brick radios! I am not updating mine. Part III I drove out to Farmer Boys in Thousand Oaks for dinner prior to expecting to drive out to Santa Barbara. I was happily surprised at the top of the Camarillo Grade, to be able to hear and transmit to the Santa Ynez repeater, so at the bottom of the Grade, I got off the 101 at Pleasant Valley Rd exit and parked in an adjoining lot. I was able to transmit into it with the Tone of 127.3; and I could hear it when I activated the Tone of 146.2. Without this tone my squelch would not open. Part IV I note from the four photos you posted above: A) Your Transmit Tone is 131.8; my Tone is 127.3. B ) On my Anytone: Menu Item 05:SINGAL is SQ, not CT/DCS like on yours. Maybe this is making the difference. GOOD LUCK! and report back your results. AT-779UV UPGRADE.docx at779_UV_500_v2_30_2_VOX 2021_4_28.zip AT779UV_Setup_2.01.exe QXCodePro_Update_Setup_1.05.exe
  9. Some quantitative data for the antenna mavens (of which I am not) to analyze from our contacts this morning: According to Google Maps we are 22.9 miles away driving distance, which will be slightly less as the crow flies; due north/south from each other; with the western portion of the Angeles National Forest between us. I am transmitting 18 watts with my Anytone AT-779UV (a/k/a Radioddity DB-20G) through my Comet CX-333 triband antenna on my 2nd story rooftop. I hear you better simplex than I do through the 650 Contractor's Point repeater. I hear you just as well, with 3 bars out of 10 on my meter, whether you are transmitting on 462.550, 462.625, 462.650 or even 467.650 (with me listening on the 650 repeater input). So I would suggest unless anyone has something different to say, that you should not cut anymore off, as you will degrade your SWR on GMRS/FRS Channels 1-7 and 15-22. The only caveat I have, is that if the other users of the 650 repeater object to the amount of noise you bring in with your audio, and since this seems to be the only repeater you can hit in the LA area, you might want to improve your SWR on 467.650 (or obtain a separate Yagi optimized for 467.650 and aimed at Contractors Point). Strangely enough, I am unable to hear you with my Comet attached to my Icom IC-R7000, which has much better sensitivity than my Anytone. I cannot explain this at this time, pending more experimentation.
  10. On a slightly related note, a few years ago during Hurricane season in North and South Carolina, I setup a Hurricane Zone on my Radioddity RD-5R DMR HT to listen in: TalkGroup Name TalkGroup Number Hurricane 3199 NC 3137 SC 3145
  11. OK: I made the same Input Freq error! hahahaha I have added the Santa Ynez repeater into my Anytone twice: once as both tones and second as only a Tx tone, so I can compare. Maybe I can make the drive this afternoon. I'll let you know. Keep us up to date when Andy from Anytone responds to you.
  12. Here is the latest reply from Nora at Radioddity offering you a $10 refund; respond to the email address that I send you by PM: She sent me a reminder email today looking for a reply.
  13. Check out the private message from Wy0Joe
  14. Can you give me the repeater information (by private message if you prefer) so that I can take a drive up there and see if my Anytone duplicates your problem?
  15. I just gave a shout out to you on Frazer Peak 447.86 machine.
  16. My FW version is 2.26; I have to check the FW version in my car, too. Do any of your Ventura County GMRS repeaters get you into the San Fernando Valley? What are the details of the split tone repeater you use? Maybe I will program it into my Anytone and take a drive up to Ventura. I have Bob Yuan at Let's Get Ready where I purchased my Anytone, checking with them about firmware updates.
  17. Does this excerpt of 6.8 from the manual help? Any specific questions?
  18. Joe: what do you mean by "extended repeater channels?" I find that, once programmed by my CPS, if I go to a Channel and make a change from the radio itself, such as change the CTCSS tone, it only remains changed during that usage. Once I change channels, and return to this channel, I find the original CPS programmed tone again. Does this comport with your usage experience?
  19. Congratulations, Dave - I enjoy this radio so much, I now have two: one in my car and one in my home! I believe it is the best combination of features and efficiency for its price. A new myGMRS friend not too far away from me, picked up the Radioddity DB-20G version. How do you determine the firmware version? Please link me to the Anytone website: the only version I find, Anytonetech, does not even list our radio in its support section. Do you live in Ventura County, CA (805)? While I may have this bug also, I avoid this problem by not programming any Tone into the Decode section of each channel. I only put in a Tone to Encode, so that the repeater recognizes my transmission. Decode tones are only really needed if you are getting non-repeater transmissions on the same channel and you do not want them to open your squelch. Try this in the meantime and see if you can hear your local repeater.

Do me a favor, @Lscott since I am rushed this morning: please link me to the FCC Rules & Regs that makes your hypothetical a fine punishable event. I am not talking about some company manufacturing and/or importing a non-Certified Part 95 radio into the US for sale; I am talking about a GMRS licensee using a radio on GMRS, within the power, bandwidth limits, etc., that is either not Part 95 certified or was Part 95 certified and lost its certification, and, according to you, is subject to a $10,000 fine. Thank you.

That is a link to an outdated year old Tweet. Let's keep our discussion to the GMRS and other radio services rules, so that we do not lose perspective.
  22. Did you buy it from Radioddity? Since the responded to me failing to provide an update tool: If so, contact them ans see if they will swap it for one with the updated firmware

No voodoo intended: The OP asked his question; I asked mine and when I considered the specific Rule, while also following @Trad77 ‘s thread, and having experience in Montana, I just put it all together. You know from my comments in other threads, I believe in radios that can transmit on both GMRS and Ham , and all of my radios can do that, except for my Pofung P15UV, which I purchased primarily for its tone-scanning capabilities on both services.

One good question leads to another... leads to a good solution: The GMRS rules clearly provide in %95.1733 (a)(9), that: And that is where my cross-band hypothetical becomes relevant: @Trad77, not being in a large metropolitan region, but in one of the least populated States of the Union, should definitely get in touch with a local Ham who has 440 MHz capability and define a cross-band channel (for example, as I stated earlier: Tx: 462.5625; Rx: 446.0 for @Trad77 and Tx: 446.0; Rx: 462.5625 for the local Ham, for communication in case of an emergency! While not all Hams are proficient at handling emergency traffic, clearly for the last 100 years, it has been Amateur Radio operators who have handled communication for emergency after emergency. So, @Trad77 should have a system available to him to communicate with a local Ham during such an emergency and not rely on his GMRS which in all probability will not reach anyone of substance during an emergency.
  25. Seriously, what part of Wyoming?
