I just got one about 2 weeks ago. I blame it on everyone here. Lots of enablers on here. They will tell you it's the best thing since sliced bread.....
    it's not expensive, get it......
what's one more radio going to hurt......
I love it more than all my other radios.....
And they're all correct! Listen, this radio is more advanced than I am. It's got some channel wizard thing and some tone scan thing. It's got more features than I'll ever use, but it is pretty sweet. I mean, it's not expensive and one more isn't going to hurt. I kinda like it better than all my other radios.

935G plus is my go to radio. I highly recommend it based on countless tests against Baofeng and TID Radios that I have done. They are a more expensive radio than most but I have not been disappointed by it's overall performance and capabilities. The other thing for me, is I have tested power output on many radios. The 935G+ has been the most consistent in "advertised" power output (close to 5 watts and in some cases more). Other radios in the Baofeng and TID radio department are hit or miss on output. For me that is the difference from making contact in a unique location I visit to not making a contact. That little bit of extra juice makes the difference for me against other radios I have tested from same location.

I have owned the 935G and now have the 935G Plus and both like it and recommend it. It is my goto GMRS handheld and I have had many GMRS handhelds. I use the wide RX capabilities a lot. In my area the local Sheriff's department is still using VHF so I have my 935G+ programmed to be able to listen local law enforcement and fire departments. When I travel I program any repeaters I might be in range of along my planned route. I have also programmed in 186 railroad frequencies to scan on long trips to keep me entertained. I have all the HAM repeaters in my area programmed in so I can listen to those if I want. I have tested the 935G+ side by side with several different superheterodyne radios and RX/TX is just as good. The IP66 rating is good and I have used the radio in the rain and snow. It has also been dropped a couple of times with no damage. At first I didn't think I would care about the Channel Wizard but have come to appreciate it when programming the 935G+ by hand.

And don't let the fact that the 935G Plus is a SOC (system on chip) radio and not superheterodyne bother you.. The 935G does just as well as the Wouxun KG-Q10G/H models that are superheterodyne. I can't tell any difference between the 935G Plus and the Q10H models I own.

yeah I could see that, but yes. I'm always logged into both sites.

This would be the fastest and easiest way to test both the coax and the mount itself.  If you get any resistance between  the center conductor and shield or do not see 50 ohms when a dummy load is connected then you can start to look at the coax and the mount itself.
I would check the dummy load with a multimeter to see what it reads before attaching it to the mount so that you have a good baseline measurement.

It’s possible to be logged into the forum without being logged in at the www.mygmrs.com level. They’re separate in some ways which is why they sometimes get unsynchronized.

Test at the connections. You don’t need to remove the headliner if everything rings out well. Look for no continuity between the center and the shield without the antenna. It should be the same on both ends.
If you put a dummy load on the end you should see 50 ohms between center and shield.

Sounds like the new mount is defective, maybe a bad connection at one end or the other. Can you check it with an ohm meter and ensure it is not shorted (check resistance between the center conductor and shield) or open (check continuity from end to end on the center conductor and then on the shield).
You might also inspect the NMO mount and make sure it is clean and making good contact.

Instead of “work” I would say “transmit”, if that’s accurate. “Won’t work” doesn’t provide enough information.

Sorry, that is just bad English on my part. I did understand what he was saying and I agree that he should get what he paid for. As I said in a previous post and offering a general solution that will help wherever he goes on the internet, "It's your browser. Firefox with the following add-ons, uBlock Origin and Ghostery, remove all nuisances and makes for a very enjoyable internet experience no matter where you go." Trust me, I'm highly skilled at mangling the English language!😀

Good morning. I think you misunderstood. @brasda91 has already paid the fees to remove ads and wants to know why they are still there. He is just trying to get what he has paid for. This is an issue for Rich.

Here are some more details on what I found and what radios I tested.
I only tested the KG-935G plus, the KG-S88G and the Baofeng UV-9G for type accepted.
    I also tested the KG-UV9PX, KG-Q10H, KG-935H and Baofeng GT-3WP.
While they all have voice prompts there were no prompts once in the menu. The S88G didn’t even give numbers when changing channels unless you punched the number in the keypad. It didn’t work with the up and down arrow or the knob. So I would avoid that one if you are sight challenged. There may be work arounds that I’m not thinking of and I’m no expert on radios or the needs of the blind. I’m just trying to give information I think might be useful.

@brasda91 as Steve mentioned this problem has come up before. As a premium member that is logged in you shouldn’t have to use an ad blocker to remove the ads. I am wondering if you have other options that are provided by the premium membership? Access to posts in classified section, unlimited likes on post? In any event I also reported your post so that it may get @rdunajewski’s attention, as the owner he is the one who can ultimately help you. Good luck.

    1. He didn’t ask how to get rid of the ads. He asked why they still appeared on the home page (www.mygmrs.com) even though he had paid for premium membership which should result in no advertising.
    2. The real problem, which has been seen before, is that his membership attributes at that level hadn’t been updated to reflect his premium membership.
    3. Your advice would be great for someone wishing to get rid of ads without paying for premium membership which, but that wasn’t what he asked. It’s nothing personal.

Most GMRS users use them in pursuit of other activities rather than listening and hoping to talk to other, unknown, GMRS users.   They usually just use their call sign occasionally to comply with the regulations and their first name or position in a family “This is grandpa.  There’s a huge grizzly in the area. I want you to come back to the cabin. I’m sorry I let you play with the salmon guts before going into the woods.  Make a lot of noise while you’re walking. Scream if you need me. WROM258.”
But some GMRS users do listen for others on local repeaters, hoping to strike up a conversation. That’s much more of a ham thing, but it definitely does happen in GMRS as well.
I have never heard someone use a handle on GMRS.  Even calling them “walkie talkies” rather than “handhelds” could be fodder for some good natured ribbing.
Get your license and jump right in.

On my 805, the radio announced the channel number when first powered up.
When you press and hold the A/B button it says “Scan beginning.”
When you hit it again it says “Scan stop, channel 3,2.”
There is no number pad on the 805. You can rotate through the channels using the rotary knob on top or the up and down buttons on the front center.
This also has an FM broadcast tuner. Weirdly it begins several MHz below the FM broadcast band in the U.S. and it takes a while to tune through the dial but it sounds good once it’s tuned.
I can’t answer whether it’s worth the extra $50. It will transmit and receive the same distance but it probably has a more selective tuner because it’s a superheterodyne receiver rather than SOC. Whether that’s noticeable I can’t really say. I’m glad to have it.

Thank you Steve. I'm apparently out of 'likes' for the day or you'd have one. My buddy actually knew exactly who I was talking about when I gave him Maurice's name and has already emailed him. We're more or less in the area - my buddy lives up near Baltimore and I'm a little further south.

Excellent, THANK YOU! That's probably good enough to get him by. I'll let him know this.
He is also going to contact Maurice at the NFB and get his opinions.

They both say “scanning begin” and “scanning stop” when the appropriate button is pressed again.

edit- no indication of where it stops though, you have to change a channel manually to hear what channel you are on.
