if you really have problems with people messing with your machine you can come up and install it here in northern Maine. It will be well cared for. Lol
hmm I like this paid repeater idea ok officially mine is paid now everyone send me bucks......it has been a mooch since it started maybe it will change lol
They should be better than stock. On my dual band portables I changed them and performance was greatly improved heck one of them is over 14" that helps a lot .
If you were to pick a band in HF what would it be and why? my reason for asking is mostly due to antenna choices Im kinda leaning to a single band antenna to start(cost and no tuner needed to start) (dont think the wife would like one of those long wire ones either lol
The local club has several repeaters around and the main one that is also used for the emergency net is open. No pl just csq Never asked why but I'm new to the group but after getting with them I knew many of them previously Secret society of hams I guess lol
You mentioned the router.. Well I ran (hobbled actually) with my portable freq counter. And was surprised at all the emissions around. About 276.xxx - 290.xxx Surprising the rfi emission pollution. But what do you expect with wireless phones remote controls cell phones and anything looking for wifi.
No it is an open repeater. No pl. but!!! Problem solved!! Grounding issue. Installed a Lightning arrestor on the base of the antenna connected it to the ground wire and problem solved. Apparently the arm off the antenna pole for the repeater had rusted or something and the ground was poor for the vhf antenna. Fixed for now. But going to change it all around anyway when I put the tower up. Seem to keep putting off digging the hole for the concrete and mount.
New dilemma. Moved my vertex vx3200 from one side of the garage to my "radio room" about 4 ft away had to re route the coax thru the wall was just layed across the ceiling before Now I have interferiance (constant breaking of squelch) The antenna is fine SWR of 1.2 coax is good and tight all 2 connections and dry. changed radio the same. results. changed antenna the same. unplugged everything no change and it is only on 146.730 no squelch adjustment unless you go in to alignment and I dont have those tools yet or the skills Harmonics somewhere??? everything going thru the repeater is fine transmit reports good...then someone else is transmitting I recieve them fine Im at a loss John
Got it yesterday looks good still not sure of the brand...no tags or labels fit of the other sections I have might be tight we shall see now to start making stand off brackets
Hose clamps nah duct tape! I don't know what it is or even what my present one is They haven't been delivered yet (hoping it will be a day my wife is at work, "them old things??" lol)
Scored a 40' tower! (well 4 sections soo Im estimating and I already have 2 1/2 other sections. I hope they match up! Maybe Ill get out of my hole! Assembly wasn't included wonder how much beer thats gonna take to pay the help after it is up!
I would say in Gmrs you would need permission unless they are listed as open plus you would need the pl Ect from the owner . If they truly list it as one as I have you would see it in the directory listing access and the pl / dpl code. Now my thoughts in life. ESP dealing with using someone else property. Or even hunting. Is ask first even if listed open. Now also vhf repeaters. Well you can't have one on murs. And the 14x.xxx you need a ham licence.
Can we expand on this? Im pretty sure in gmrs its kinda a not type accepted but with theory in mind I have bought an MSR2000 that i was contemplating on putting on the air it is a c74gsb3106bt. but it was in the thinking stage... as it would take all the re cyristaling (sp) alignment ect...lowering the power out and on and on.. also in my mind am looking to go ham too... but the pa deck in that could be powered by a gm300? or lets say an r100 thus giving a full duty cycle radio? am I understanding this correct?
Wow now that made it sink in! Thank you! Just I more question prob the easiest one. The link radio is that using the transmit freq of the repeater or any other one? Thanks again. John
i keep reading and re reading lol. Seems I'm missing something in my head. Might be the drugs the VA has me on. Maybe I need a picture lol. Maybe I'll get it figured out by May June when I can get back to my campsite on the farm. Too much snow there now anyway
Hi all long time since I have posted but I have a question about linking. I have a pretty good size dead spot that I can not overcome. And it happens to be right in an area where I hunt fish 4 wheel and just veg out at. If I get on top of the hill I can hit my repeater no problem but in the lake area (big farm pond actually) 0 coverage. I have another repeater I can put in place and run it solar but can and how can I link them or can I ? Thanks again John
