  1. I just got a pair. Factory software is ok. Not a lot going on with these radios. Just don't switch to a channel with nothing programmed....you'll get a loud, annoying tone , until you switch channels. They really aren't a bad deal. 2. No. These frequencies are not legal for simplex comms. AntiSquid Disclaimer: All comments are personal opinion only and may not indicate a claim of actual fact.
  3. Well, at least it is 100% legal. AntiSquid Disclaimer: All comments are personal opinion only and may not indicate a claim of actual fact.
  4. In that case...get some old cellphones without service and put them in the closets. All cellphones that are not activated can still call 911 AntiSquid Disclaimer: All comments are personal opinion only and may not constitute actual fact.
  5. Never mind..... I didn't read that comment clearly. AntiSquid Disclaimer: All comments are personal opinion only and may not constitute actual fact.
  6. It is included. AntiSquid Disclaimer: All comments are personal opinion only and may not constitute actual fact.
  7. Sounds like intermod from 800 Mhz. Trunking system data channel coming in on the 1st harmonic. Radio isn't filtering it out. Nothing can be done. No violation. AntiSquid Disclaimer: All comments are personal opinion only and may not constitute actual fact.
  8. You would still be forbidden from transmitting in an emergency unless you have an amateur radio license. Sent from my LG-D631 using Tapatalk
  9. Forestry services sometimes include game wardens. In my state such traffic is encrypted also, to avoid tipping off poachers. AntiSquid Disclaimer: All comments made are personal opinion only and may not indicate actual fact.
  10. Generally, GMRS is used for families to communicate with one another. Hobby use of GMRS is uncommon in most areas. It is more a utility than a hobby. AntiSquid Disclaimer: All comments made are personal opinion only and may not indicate actual fact.
  11. I tried the Disney repeater when we were there in July. Never made it in. AntiSquid Disclaimer: All comments made are personal opinion only and may not indicate actual fact.
  12. I reported a local school to the fcc. They got a notice of violation. Since then, times have changed and most districts in my area have a centralized system. AntiSquid disclaimer: All information provided is personal opinion only and may or may not resemble actual fact.
  13. Whew... Sometimes it is so hard to explain via typing..... Glad you were able to bear with me thru my explanation. Yes...manuals are so terribly written. AntiSquid disclaimer: All information provided is personal opinion only and may or may not resemble actual fact.
  14. If all 14 channels operate with 12.5 kHz narrow spacing, per FRS regulations, then yes. If any of those frequencies are 25 kHz wide band, then no. AntiSquid disclaimer: All information provided is personal opinion only and may or may not resemble actual fact.
  15. I'm not saying the radios are in violation. I'm saying the USERS are. If the shared channels are wide band, then the user must get a GMRS license..or stick to the 7 FRS only narrow channels. 16. Well, that too. I didn't want to get rambling. AntiSquid disclaimer: All information provided is personal opinion only and may or may not resemble actual fact.
  17. GMRS is wideband. FRS is not. If you operate wide on the shared frequencies, you are operating as a GMRS user. If you operate narrow, you are an FRS user. The radios would have both FRS and GMRS approval, because they can operate on both services. The rules aren't contradictory.. The frequencies don't determine if they are wide or narrow, the radio service you are using the frequencies for are what makes that determination. I hope that clarifies. 18. I would have called police and directed them to the criminal activity, rather than thwarted their efforts. Now They will continue their activity elsewhere. Plus, it may have been more fun to hear their reaction when the cops came, and then taunt them
  19. FRS is narrow band. Those bubblepacks transmit in 25kHz. wideband, which violates FRS regulations that require 12.5 kHz. AntiSquid disclaimer: All information provided is personal opinion only and may or may not resemble actual fact.
  20. The bubblepack radios, however CANNOT be used on those shared frequencies without a GMRS license. Remember, FRS is narrow band and GMRS is wideband. Those bubblepack radios are set for wideband on all but the FRS-only frequencies. AntiSquid disclaimer: All information provided is personal opinion only and may or may not resemble actual fact.
  21. I ignore any unlicensed people. On GMRS, I am only interested in talking to family anyhow. On the amateur bands, I don't hear a call, I don't respond. Ever. AntiSquid disclaimer: All information provided is personal opinion only and may or may not resemble actual fact.
  22. That would be a simple matter of looking up the fcc id of the radio on the fcc website. AntiSquid disclaimer: All information provided is personal opinion only and may or may not resemble actual fact.
  23. Well, each radio service has its own rules and licensing requirements. Nowhere in any fcc regulation on any radio service allows this type of interconnect. Plus allowed frequencies are directly published in the rules. A MURS frequency is not listed as an allowable frequency. You wouldn't interconnect a cb radio on a police frequency. Same deal. I no longer quote regs. If I were to cite anything, people still won't believe me. Why do work when there is no return on my investment? I tell people to do their own research. 24. MURS and GMRS are two different radio services. Using one radio service to carry traffic from another is highly illegal. Sent from my LG-D631 using Tapatalk
