  1. Here in the MYGMRS world - open repeater most likely means that, but there are a few people here where im at that don't register here and dont use PL tones that we here identity as open.. And they get P'eed off if you use their repeater.. Get that!.. Some of these guys are Landscapers and some other construction type workers and don't know that the hay there are doing with their radios.
  2. my town is already setting up sand bag locations and they have all the flood problem intersections closed or barnacles set up to close if needed.. All the gas stations are extremely busy.. We are expected to get 4.5 inches of rain in less than two days which is a hell of a lot of rain in this desert community.. We are surrounded by mountains so run off is going to be a huge issue.. The folks in Soothern Cali are gong to really get hit hard.. I hope everyone hunkers down and ready for this one
  3. 10-4 on that..
  4. you could even write a query to search and remove duplicates on the database side so no effort would be needed. .. Better yet, you could even write a query to disallow duplicate entries, which is probably the best way to prevent duplicates from happening.. It appears that a lot of folks are simply making a new listing for minor changes they are making on their existing listing.. The best way to stop this is write a query on the database side to not allow it..
  5. Nope, that means someone is identifying their repeater and most controllers can do this in no PL mode. Your best bet is look up the repeater here and see if they are using PL's.. However there are a lot of folks that don't register here and thus you find no info on what they are doing.. Try hitting the repeater making sure your radio is set up for a repeater,,, (offsets, etc.) If you hear a squelch tail and or a roger beep, more than likely the repeater is open.. However this doesn't mean the owner is inviting you use it.... Worst scenario, they tell you to get off and that doesn't hurt. Good Luck.
  6. this could easily be fixed on the Database side as most that i know of have a duplicate search for duplicates/remove function (even excel has it).. However, A little tiny bit of effort would be required by whomever is in control on the database side..
  7. Take that one step further and right click on your distance line and choose 'Elevation Profile'..... Good for line of sight searching.. BTW,, i believe this only works in the GoogleEarth desktop version.
  8. Yup,, i haven't kept up with the Baofeng's for awhile, didn't realize they actually came out with a real GMRS radio.... So they took a UV9r and blocked out the Ham. Good idea.. Just curious,,, are they FCC accepted? just asking cause i don't know..
  9. This is my last count
  10. tell em to watch NotARubicon videos
  11. Awe,,, missed it.. will have to look it up
  12. When are you going to do a video review on these?
  13. Well BSR Mark,, I grade the experience with you an 'F'..... your quote "a restocking fee will apply and will also be based on the condition of the gear and the original packaging materials" Why the 'F' Mark?, because you spent all your time communicating with me by accusing the software or my computer as my issues. It became obvious to me you weren't reading my emails explaining that i tried two different cables two different operating systems, other radios were working fine on both scenarios. etc.. In the 4 email exchange i had with you,, never once did you suggest what WRUE951 suggested and what worked for me... My return request was purely due to frustration and your attitude which is prevailing here.. The radio is working now thanks to WRUE951 and as i told you on my last email telling you 'don't worry about the return, help from MYGMRS solved the problem' As far as future business with BSR... NOT FROM ME..... terrible terrible expericd... Next time, instead of spending time exchanging emils arguing with the customer,,, try helping them with real solutions and read the emails the customers are sending you....
  14. I didn't want to try a reset or anything with the radio because i intended to send it back but after Mark returned an email threatening a restocking fee i figured nothing else to loose. I download the .csv file you pointed me to, even though it is not directed from BSR, uploaded and BOOM. Both programs are now seeing all frequencies programmed in the radio... Thank-you very much for your help....
  15. Yup - trying other radios with the same cables would be line item #6.. i did and the cables work with other radios.. Rather than mess with it any further i'm going to return and try the KG-UV9D or the KG-Q10H.. Any recommendations on either radio?
  16. I dont have a .csv backup, i can't make one.. do you know if i can download that off their site? I can't find it. BTW - Mark did get back but he seems more interested in being argumentative then reading my emails detailing the problems im having and the solutions i have tried.. He is blaming the cable or Chrip but totally ignored the facts i pointed to him. I tried two different cables (the Red cable i got from them),and a Baofent cable i already had. I tried two different Softwares, Chirp and the Wouxun, and i tried on two different operating platforms Windows 10 and Mac IOS - all with the same exact results.. While the KG-UV9GX i got at the same time is working fine on all above.. It all points to the radio but rather than go through any more hassles i will return it.. Thanks for responding
  17. For the money and the support. IMHO the 935G hands down.
  18. I think I was asking if anyone experienced these issues? And yea, I don’t have any choice but to give them time to get back to me in some way or form, I guess I’m just used to BuyTwoWay’s very quick responses.,, In the meantime, I’m not having a good experience with this radio.
  19. The radio see’s all the programmed SHTF freqs but Chirp or the Wouxun program is not. Therefor I’m unable to create the backup .csv file. The UV9GX I got is working as it should. Also notice the PX radio freqs jump all over the place when I do manual up or down scan. Defiantly something flaky with this radio
  20. Anyone having problems with the BetterSafe UV9PX trying to read and save the radio programed frequencies either with CHIRP (latest) or the Wouxun Program? When i try to download the radios program frequencies the download showed only 30 Ham Channels on the first try and next attempt showed only the GMRS frequencies.. This happens on both the Red cable and a Baofeng cable and on Windows 10 and an Apple IOS Laptop. Mark with Better Safe asked me to send him the .csv files yesterday, which i did and he is now un-responsive.. He is not answering my emails... Im really not happy with this radio right now and will more then likely send it back for a refund which leads me to my next question... Anyone have problems with Bettersafe refunding bad radios?
  21. I built my own version of that and it’s great. Was willing to share with site owner but he has no interest. I have everything loaded up KML for my popular ‘spots’ and my route highlights available repeaters and information needed for my travels…. Really not that difficult to compile.
  22. Ebay sellers will do various bundle options on a specific radio.. Some sellers are bold enough to sell un-locked radios and advertise the frequency ranges.. In a nut shell, i haven't found one Baofeng radio that can't be modified... The UV-5 model radios are the same radio..They basically take an unlocked version and program them for a specific version, ti.e. Ham, GMRS , MHRS, etc. No different with the UV-9 models. IMO,, Baofengs are a cheap way to learn about radios and some are even good communicators. I would bet that 99% of the users on this forum own one, two, three or more of them.. Many times I have seen guys bashing them then you see them using them all the while they have more expensive fancy radios on their shelf.. When i'm out Kayaking and fishing, i always grab one of my cheap Baofengs.. But my favorite GO TO GMRS radio is the Wouxun KG-935 or the KG-UV9GX
  23. Save $30 bucks. LMAO
  24. A few friends of mine enjoy desert boondocking to play with their dirt toys.. They tell me it's very common to find a temporary open repeater somone has set up in the areas they camp for anyone to use. And apparently they get used often.. I understand it's all word of mouth for the Channel specifics.. I didn't recommend this site as a means to advertise those repeater specifics but got to thinking, why couldn't this site be used for those temporary repeaters.. Say, if you set up a few locations, mark it as temporary Repeater location and toggle the status online/offline.. What do you guys/gals think?? anyone gonna get 'butt heart' if this site becomes a tool for temporary boondocking/campong repeaters?
