WSAA635 Posted Thursday at 07:20 PM Report Posted Thursday at 07:20 PM BaofengTech/BTech has really out done themselves with the BF-F8HP Pro IMHO. This radio has everything I've been looking for in an HT, it's easy to program with the BTech software and even lets you add a Custom Start-Up pic. I did a vid of a quick walk around showing some of the features and showing the really awesome programming software too. Anyway, enjoy the vid and thanks for watching. TN.Frank Out! WRXB215 1 Quote
WRUE951 Posted Thursday at 07:27 PM Report Posted Thursday at 07:27 PM I agree.. I lost mine last year. Left it in my kayak and it disappeared somewhere on the highway. It was a 3 year old radio. I don't recall able to custom the screen though.. Did they add that option from the original. I think my screen was not as big as this one.. Quote
WSAA635 Posted Thursday at 10:23 PM Author Report Posted Thursday at 10:23 PM You might have had the BF-F8HP and not the Pro model which has GPS and a larger screen. WRUE951 1 Quote

WRTC928 Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago The UV-5RH Pro GPS is almost the same radio in terms of features and function. It lacks the support and updatable firmware of the BF-F8HP Pro, and those things do matter, but it's 1/4 the price. If I were going to have only one HT and use it for many years, I'd probably go with the F8HP, but I bought the 5RH instead. There's not really one right answer to the question of what radio is "best". It depends upon how you think you will use the radio. WRUE951 1 Quote

About the only DMR/Analog HT I've seen that does cool analog stuff I've been missing in HT's like my MD-380. Things like tone scan, add/remove channels on the radio without a PC, etc. It's almost like a standard analog radio with all the analog features one would want that does DMR instead of a DMR radio that can do basic pre-programmed analog but with no real analog features. BTW Baofang supposedly has a new CPM for their new DMR radio.. I havent download it it yet but it did read that talk groups can be programed into the radio and changed on the fly, where this couldn't be done on their orginal DMR radio.. CPM is on their website, t'm gonna download and check it tomorrow. As far as 'looking' at code, with the right editor(s) you can check into any code and even find hacked passwords on line. But looking is no fun,, Quote

But you'll have to fire up a Linux box and find a password cracker on the dark web for programs you may want to edit.. There are 1000's of these paswords cracks available. I can't say i have actully used them but i know they work. Quote
