Craws907 Posted June 2, 2020 Report Posted June 2, 2020 I see there is a repeater listed in anchorage but i haven't made it up there from kenai to see if it's still up and running yet. Nerka 1 Quote
Nerka Posted August 19, 2020 Report Posted August 19, 2020 I'm in Anchorage and saw the repeater here. Not sure it is up and running. I'm waiting on a couple wouxun 805g's so hoping to try it out. Quote
laneends Posted August 21, 2020 Report Posted August 21, 2020 Currently fishing on the bering sea, don't think I'm going to be talking to anyone out here... RandomPoster 1 Quote
GuySagi Posted August 21, 2020 Report Posted August 21, 2020 I'm jealous on the fishing trip, dang it. I know this forum is dedicated to gmrs, but post a pic with some of your catch....hold an HT up to its mouth and maybe it'll stay on line long enough for me to enjoy. I was once on an assignment on Kodiak Island and the fishing and people were awesome. Your note makes me ready to go back. I sure do hope you're have the kind of blast I experienced. Quote
laneends Posted August 21, 2020 Report Posted August 21, 2020 Sadly I'm not here for pleasure... I'm on a 305 foot processing ship, I work in the engine room. I would happily post pictures if the bandwidth of our satilite internet didn't make that sort of thing such a fight! Unfortunately a simple Google search is a fight, that's why I enjoy simple forums like this one! RandomPoster 1 Quote
laneends Posted February 22, 2021 Report Posted February 22, 2021 Just a little update here, I'm in anchorage being quarantined at a hotel before I go back to the boat. According to this site there's a repeater on 462.700 with a tone of 203.5. I can't seem to get on it, and my scanners aren't picking up any gmrs traffic on any channels. Seems to be pretty quiet around here. Nothing really on CB either. I've been monitoring both services and only had one hit on each service. There does seem to be a little Action on the ham 2m and 70cm bands here and there. Quote
dogfarts2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Report Posted November 3, 2021 Reviving this thread, there is a repeater in Chugiak now but does not reach out to the Mat Su because of the mountains. I have had my Wouxun KG935G on since I got it and had nothing. Quote
MichaelLAX Posted November 3, 2021 Report Posted November 3, 2021 Is it a reasonable drive up to Chugiak with your 935G? Quote
WRFP399 Posted November 8, 2021 Report Posted November 8, 2021 GMRS625 is running. The 700 doesn't seem to ever be up. I contacted the owner months back and was told they were updating it. Been trying to get the 625 on the myGMRS net but I am either doing something very wrong or the net isn't designed to do it the way I am trying. You can get into the 625 from the Point Mackenzie Area. I got in well enough with a 5 watt HT and a mag mount 1/4 wave antenna. Don't know if that helps you. dogfarts2021 1 Quote
dogfarts2021 Posted November 9, 2021 Report Posted November 9, 2021 I tried to drive out there saturday but the freezing drizzle stopped me just past 3 bears. I have the up and down tones so I'll try it again soon or when I have to drive to Ft Richardson again. Meanwhile working from home I have had it on alot. I get someones plumbing and heating company on GMRS channel 3 occasionally on fairview loop Quote
MichaelLAX Posted November 9, 2021 Report Posted November 9, 2021 Oooops! I guess it's just not as easy as jumping into my EV with my Anytone AT-779UV and TYT-UV88 (for tone scanning abilities) to go repeater hunting here in Southern California! Hahahaha Sorry! Best of luck next spring! Quote
WRFP399 Posted November 10, 2021 Report Posted November 10, 2021 This repeater is tied in with the myGMRS net now. If you are around on Sundays there should be some activity on it. If you check the netork map you can see when I have it actively linked. https://network.mygmrs.com/map Quote
