Using B Tech Radio

Hey, For the life of me I can't seem to get any action on GMRS band. I tried to connect to the Mercer County Repeater, without any luck. I'm very new to GMRS and I think the radio isn't set correctly. Any advise?

What radio? And how far away?

Well first off the DMR2 is not a GMRS radio and should not be used on GMRS. Its a ham radio.

 

Secondly how is your programming. It needs to be analog as we dont do digital on GMRS.42.x on receive and 47.x on transmit for a repeater. 

 

Get a real GMRS radio.

 

Lastly your comment about "any action". What do you expect to get ? This is not ham radio. GMRS is not like CB either. Its a service for friends or family to utilize for internal communications for the most part.

Aside from using a non type certified radio, are you getting the repeater tail indicating you are hitting the repeater, or is it just silent.

 

Legally you need the GMRS type certified radio to transmit. In BTECH world it's is the GMRS 50X1 OR V1 handheld.

 

Secondly, as the post above mentioned, this is not a chatterbox type hobby.

. Here's a distance guide that may assist.
The 6X2 antenna I believe is cut for the ham bands (445MHz) not GMRS (465MHz).
