Well l don’t claim to be the brightest bulb in the pack but l’m guessing GMRSers. I know of 2 other operators on my street and maybe more further out. Thinking a repeater could come in handy for my fam and others when/if we lose power & cell service again in the future. I’m that guy who likes backups.

Perfect!  That's what the service is intended for.  Most expect to find contacts when they need them, rather than cultivate beforehand.
