A friend of mine recently received his GMRS license and it’s SO hard to recall. Can he petition the FCC for a do-over or a vanity call?

He can get a new license.  There was a guy on here who did that quite frequently after he wore out his welcome, but it costs $35 each time and there’s no way to know what his next license will be. It will almost certainly have the same first two or three letters.

There are no vanity licenses in GMRS.

Agree on this one.

When I got my ham call sign, the first thing I did was change it to something more fun (W7SXY).  Then when I sat for my general exam, the test guy looked at my call sign and said "uh, ... seriously?"  I guess "some people" have no sense of humor lol

Well, he can't say it isn't memorable 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, mine almost looks like WORM (WROM258).

XENU007 would be cool though.

TOO FUNNY BUT:  MY ham radio call sign IS. W0RM (whisky zero romeo mike), it’s easy to send in Morse and NOBODY forgets it   .. WORM / N9RPL /  and now including WRYT639

.. RALPH
