WRZE366 Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 I am new to GMRS / HAM and new to My GMRS and Texas GMRS. When looking at available repeaters, there is a "request access tab". Should we request access to any repeater we are trying to access? Or, are "open" repeaters available to subscribing members w/o request? Thanks Andy Heath WRZE366 / KJ5BEZ Quote
WRXB215 Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 The "request access" button is always there. In general, when it says "open" you do not need permission to use the repeater. I have seen at least one repeater (can't remember which one) where it was open but the owner stated that he only wanted people he knew personally using it. It's always best to read the description to make sure. WRUU653, SteveShannon and Raybestos 3 Quote
SvenMarbles Posted February 11 Report Posted February 11 Yeah typically if the just publish the tones outright on the listing, it's an open system. Scroll down a little lower on those pages and a lot of times the repeater owners writes something there explaining the repeater a bit. Quote

Next week it is "Open to any licensed user". Week after that it is "Permission Only" again; and on, and on, and on. WRYC373 and WRXB215 1 1 Quote
