WRQI663 Posted June 13, 2024 Report Posted June 13, 2024 Not listing my amateur radio gear, too many radios GMRS - 2 bow fangs, a uv5g and a gm21 - and a couple of fake motos (gp-68) I don't need a fixed station for gmrs, the ht's will do it for me. I also don't like those nagoya 771s unless it's for ht fencing --- "En garde" Quote

WSCY704 Posted July 6, 2024 Report Posted July 6, 2024 Alinco DJ-G46. Alinco's new GMRS HT. Works well. Sounds good on receive, and I've had good audio reports from those I've talked to on both Simplex and Repeaters. The receiver is quite sensitive, but has good rejection too. The output power is 4.90W on the lower channels, .5 on the FRS channels, and right at 5W for the repeaters. It can be programmed with software, but I've not done that so I can't report on that aspect. The antenna connection is a Reverse SMA. (Wish is was the standard SMA but not a deal breaker). I also purchased the High capacity battery, and I can go several days with heavy use before i have to recharge it. And the high capacity battery can be charged with the standard desk charger that comes with the radio. The radio does not have any external power ports, so you have to use batteries. There is also a speaker mic plug, covered with the rubber dust cover. I don't have a speaker mic for this rig. One drawback I've found, is the back light only stays on for about 5 or 6 seconds, I would like to be able to have it on for 10 seconds, but i see no way to change it, even with the software. Again not a deal breaker. All in All a nice little radio, that performs well. Quote
WSDD519 Posted July 6, 2024 Report Posted July 6, 2024 Have two of the TIDRadio TD-H8s in "alien green" along with an Icom ID5100 (used for a base station). HTs get most of the use as repeater has solid coverage in my area. Quote
