WRKP827 Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 There are not a lot of repeaters near Clarksville TN on either MyGMRS, or Repeaterbook. Anyone in the area that knows of local ones that are not listed? My daughter is in that area and getting into GMRS. I'm trying to help her out by doing the leg work and to program her radio. Thank you in advance for any helpful comments. Quote
WRXB215 Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 Click on the gear icon in the upper left of the map and enable "Show Stale Repeaters." Stale repeaters are just repeaters that haven't had an update in more than 1 year. Also, checkout some local clubs, including ham clubs. Often times GMRS repeaters are owned by hams. Quote

gortex2 Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 Was just in Nashville last week and in Clarksville a couple nights and did not hear any chatter on any repeater frequency. Nashville 575 did pop in once but couldn't get back to it. Raybestos 1 Quote

TaylorH Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 According to Repeaterbook there are 2 GMRS Repeaters in Clarksville channel 18(462.625) and channel 20(462.700 both have coordinated repeaters through SERA. I have at times heard a few people chatting away on GMRS. I know the Amateur Radio side has several different 2m and 70cm repeaters along with DSTAR and fusion digital coming on line in the near future...I live in Montgomery County and feel Free to ask any more questions I'm willing to help WRKP827 1 Quote
gortex2 Posted March 31 Report Posted March 31 Are they actually on ? I tried both last week and could not access either. RB says they are offline also ? Lastly SERA has nothing to do with GMRS repeaters. They cannot coordinate GMRS. I used the 640 machine a bit when there. Quote

He has a message that both repeaters are off line until it can be repaired. Thank you for your input, I greatly appreciate it. Quote
BlackJack082978 Posted June 9 Report Posted June 9 I have noticed currently that the only one I have ever heard active at the moment since getting my gmrs liscense has been the K4FL which according to google maps is only 7 miles from where I am currently living. That being said now having passed my ham tech finding repeaters that are active or even clubs in this area hasnt returned any results as of yet. SteveShannon 1 Quote
WSEB366 Posted August 9 Report Posted August 9 I just got my gmrs license and am near Pleasant View which is between Nashville and Clarksville. I'm actually interested in setting up a repeater. Does anyone have any recommendations/ advice in doing this. I'm certainly not on the experienced side of radio but I am interested. Thanks everyone. Quote

I'd stay away from setting up a repeater until you get some experience under your belt and a lot more knowledge. SteveShannon and gortex2 1 1 Quote
