Program repeater settings on BaoFeng GM21. There aint no Sec. 6.11 in Owners Manual! Don't care what Contents says

Question

Briefly I am an old man trying to keep my brain exercised with new stuff. To wit:

Recently bought a BaoFeng GM21 to learn etc.  Issue: I live in a somewhat remote area of the PNW. Hills, trees, Bigfoot, etc. Wanted to link to repeater about 30 miles away.  GM21 Owners Manual Table of Contents sez says look  in Section 6.11 of said Owners Manual.  There is no Sec 6.11 in Owners Manual.  Only goes to 6.9. I did RFM and I am even more confu##ulated thanks to RFM.

Nearest and only repeater anywhere close per this site in the list  is "Longview650".

Downlink 462.650

Uplink 467.650

Uplink Tone 233.6

Downlink Tone 203.5

So I tried to manually program the GM21.  The thing is smart enough to transmit on 467.650 when I PTT on 462.650. That's where its generosity ends. MyGMRS.com posted Uplink Tone and Downlink Tone MAY refer to some kind of TX and RCV CTCSS. I think, but I am guessing.  I also don't know which would be which.  Chirp in both Win 11 and Linux flavors tells me it can't read the dat file or whatever you folks call it off the GM21.  What do Uplink Tone and Downlink Tone translate to  in BaoFeng-ese?  Would it not be a good idea for everyone to use the same terminology? Just asking.  And before I start getting called names, I think I did pretty good at my age to get this far in the process. Seriously, I just want to exercise my dwindling brain matter and do something productive.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.  IF I get the radio properly configured. all that remains is thirty mile of mountains, hemlocks, and firs.  Your kindness is appreciated.

First of off: I dont know what "to wit" means..
Second of all: forget about the RX/Downlink tones.

The Uplink will be the Transmit/TX tone that you will need - it will either be CTCSS or DTC/DPL - since there is no crossover between the numbers, 233.6 can only be one or the other (i would use Google to look it up for you.. but, i dont want to), so just go through the list for CTCSS and if you dont see 233.6, then it must be a DTC/DPL tone and it will be in that list on the radio.

"forget about the RX/Downlink tones"

Thank you very much! That's very helpful and I will try again.  Plus, forgetting is what I do best these days.  I just keep trying to exercise the old brain.

Kidding aside, thanks again and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or any other cordial greeting you prefer!

The tones with decimal something (xxx.x) are CTCSS.  DCS codes are integers (no decimal).

True. I think where some people get confused is that some radios use an index for the tone instead of the actual tone itself.
