Adapter or New Cable

I just purchased a Comet GP-9NC Antenna to use as a GMRS base station antenna. It has an "N" female connector and my current cable (50' LMR400) has a UHF male connector. I would like to use an adapter but am wondering if I should buy a new cable with the "N" male connector on one end. I usually try to avoid adapters but saw a video where a guy used dozens of connectors in a test and there was no measurable loss compared to no extra connectors.

On a related note, what is the loss difference between an "N" connector and a SO-239/PL-259 type UHF connector.

A good adapter would be just fine. If you have the right tools (or buy M&P connectors which require very little in tools) replacing one of the cable ends would be the best option. In my opinion of course.

I'll second what @SteveShannon said. You can use an adapter or you can change one end of the coax. I will give one word of caution, get a good quality adapter and/or a good quality connector. While you don't have to buy a top of the line Amphenol connector/adapter, you do want to stay away from the super cheap stuff from Amazon and eBay.

Or whack off the UHF Male and replace it with an Amphenol Male N Connector.  N Connectors are actually easy to install.
