If your pole is set in concrete, it’s not going to be a reliable ground. Better, much better to follow the Motorola spec in the previous post or check NEC or your local building codes for proper grounding. This is something you really don’t want to skimp on, especially if your hobby grows and you find yourself needing additional earth ground in the future.

lol yup - so many Jeep guys want the 3 foot Firestick antenna mounted way down low on the bumper or spare tire mount, then they wonder why they get next to no range on CB..

Some radios already have that feature, either voice of morse code. However, using such a feature would probably make you pretty unpopular pretty quickly. You will soon develop the habit of giving your ID on a regular basis. Most people start with an ID after initial contact and then more or less every 10 minutes.

Just a caution to be civil here. This thread has the potential to get political fast, and that's not okay here. For casual listening to the protesters, I have no issue with sharing that information. I do have a problem with using that information for nefarious purposes, however. Just like how it's okay to share information for monitoring police and the military within the confines of the law, but once you try to use it for nefarious purposes that goes out the window and becomes a problem here.
