  1. I have a GT-5R. It is constrained to transmit only on 2m and 70cm ham frequencies. Wide open for receive. The Baofeng UV-5G and UV-5X are the GMRS versions of the Baofeng. I don’t have either.

  2. There is likely one area you haven't checked. Your typical cigarette lighter plug has a spring loaded center contact pin on the tip. The contact area with the pad inside of the socket is really small. At moderate to high currents this area will get really hot depending on the current draw.

  3. Make sure that your repeater channel is set to WIDEband.

  6. Sorry for missing the model. When I input the squelch settings it actually made the UV-5R & UV-9G actually work.

  7. Most UV5Rs can be opened up, but if you want something to transmit on GMRS with out "modification" get a GMRS radio. I have the UV5G. It works well enough for what it is. Definitely NOT waterproof.

    Online Audio Not Working?

I, also using Chrome with Windows 10, am experiencing the same issue.

  9. Update: I purchased a heavy duty cigarette lighter plug (20amp) and have it plugged into a 15amp fused circuit in the van. I also have 15amp inline fuses between the plug and the radio. I have had the radio in the van for a week now with no problems. The radio is working well on low (5w), med (20w), and even on high (50w) without blowing any fuses. I will keep an eye on the connections and wiring, but I'm pretty happy with the results at the moment. Thank you to all who provided suggestions. WRDB702 - Jim

  10. Which Baofeng? Also you must put your radio in Frequency Mode. Turn the volume (after cable is connected) too full and back off a little. Then upload your file to the radio.

  11. Nope. Sorry Im not a fan of nets. They should be on Ham radio in my opinion. A national net just ties up repeaters when no one is listening to them.

    GMRS chart

I ordered one of those GMRS charts from BTWR (no affiliate link) and found it in my mail box today. The nice mailperson had folded it in thirds. The shipper had not put a "DO NOT FOLD" stamp or label on the folder or even put a bit of cardboard to protect the chart. I'm now going to step outside an SCREAM.
