  1. Note that BTech and Radioddity both have "store fronts" on Amazon; don't know if those are handled by other companies behind the scenes or are actually managed by the named firms. And yes, my DB20G shows a rather drastic slope on output power: 22W in the (unlocked) 150MHz range sliding down to just under 12W on GMRS 467MHz repeater inputs (and 13.5W on the 462MHz simplex channels).

    Best Repeater Antenna?

I use the Comet CA-712EFC. It's been a great antenna so far...

  4. Yes: Alpha-Delta which also has a 4 output model. I have both: one for HF antenna to two radios and the other for my Comet VHF/UHF tri-band antenna to four radios. Avoid cheap knockoffs that perform poorly.

  5. I like https://www.buytwowayradios.com as they carry a lot of radios types and stand behind what they sell. No I do not get a discount for saying this... I just want a radio to work and if need help get it from their staff.

  6. The biggest issue with gmrs gear is most of the better (and approved) gear seems to be one off to different vendors, which is why you won't find a ton of ability to cross shop prices on the same model outside of Midland. Buytwowatradios.com is well regarded, as far as I know, and I've had no issues with the few orders I've had from them (have the 805g on the banner ad, another wouxun, and a couple other bits including antennas. For the Btech gear, they're the sole source on that. Radioddity.com has a couple options, and one (db20g) is a twin to the anytone at779uv, which I've only seen on amazon. A few members have one version or the other and are happy with them (myself included, with 2 of the anytone), though one member has one showing lower power out than it should, so maybe some quality control issues.

  7. I found the same page, #9 and the last question are probably most to the point of getting something unlicensed like cb available again, and what's available semi readily now without the need for a test..it looks like S.R.R.S is similar to what the US has as FRS..

  8. Tail setting won’t help. Deleting the Rx tone opens up your receiver so it will pass anything it receives regardless of the tone.

  9. You would need to contact the Philippine National Telecommunications Commission to find out the process for requesting that. https://ntc.gov.ph/philippine-table-of-frequency-allocations/?doing_wp_cron=1663945203.0378279685974121093750 It appears that the entire range between 415 and 472 MHz is already used for Maritime Mobile. Edited to add (possibly correct): this web page indicates that 400-470 is available to radio amateurs: https://n2rac.com/pinoy-preppers-radio-faq-a36673619567 Good luck!

  12. yes works works fine in simplex mode radio to radio....will try removing the RX code BTW ....it was your YouTube GMRS channel that got me into this mess in the first place LOL

  13. Hard to tell for sure what is going on... Have you confirmed if the radio works properly on simplex/direct radio to radio? and.. maybe try removing the RX/DEcode tone to see if that makes any difference?

  14. Using a tone on an emergency channel will just make comms more difficult. How about this, at the trailhead/parking lot, place a 3x5 card in the window of your vehicle with the FREQUENCY that your group will be using. First thing SAR is going to do is find your vehicle..... As for sub channels/tones, your best choice for simplex comms is to leave it off.

  15. Sure: good idea. If you actually hit the "Quote" button under my post, it not only quotes me in your post, it alerts me that someone has quoted me. I did not see your new post until just now otherwise.

  16. Your node is not registering with the registration server; otherwise it'd be showing up here: https://mygmrs.network/nodes Without that; nothing will connect. myGMRS is currently showing all our nodes as rejected in terms of registration, alluding to a registration server problem on the myGMRS side, thus the node list is stale. I've pinged Rich on this issue. edit: it's been fixed; try it again in a few minutes.

  18. That cant work, for the reasons you stated, and to back that up, I tried it. You either need two antennas or the amp has to be before the duplexer, which in this particular case would kill the duplexer.

    Family use of callsigns.

My family uses unit numbers, but not very often. Names work just as good. In my family; my wife and I, and our oldest son are all hams. Our 2 younger sons are not hams. (yet) What's funny is that our youngest son takes this GMRS identification business more seriously than any of the rest of us. I will call him on GMRS as: "Hey Mike, it's Dad, copy?" He will respond with: "This is WQYM-Five Four One, unit 5 to unit 1, go ahead Dad."
