Those look correct if the repeater owner uses DTCSS on both transmit and receive and neither is inverted. I’m assuming that you entered the correct values. It’s not really necessary to have a value for receiving. If you leave it out you’ll receive everything on that frequency. Sometimes that is useful while making sure your transmitter is configured correctly. Then you can always go back and enter a code/tone for receiving.

  2. That would be me. Passed my test on the 10th. Have my antenna up and everything. Just waiting for my callsign. Heck, I can't even sign up for most Amateur Radio websites right now since I don't have a callsign. Check about a dozen times a day. I'm pretty bummed.

It's also commonly called a "Parrot" repeater. The way they function is the repeater will record, some seconds to a minute or so, of the input audio stream. Then on termination of the reception it will re-transmit the audio just recorded usually on the same frequency. These repeaters are less expensive due to the fact they don't need bulky and costly cavity filters, used to isolate the receiver from the transmitter, for true simultaneous reception and transmission of the audio stream. Some have built one for remote emergency communications. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o05ILiIg5o4 https://www.argentdata.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=98 The negative aspect is the delay due to the necessity of recording the input audio stream and then the re-transmission. Many people find using a Parrot repeater rather irritating due to the delay.

Sounds like you are connecting, and it sounds like it is a 'simplex' repeater which records what you say, then re-transmits it.

  5. Well the node controller should have control of the PTT on the repeater. And it will allow local repeat function, so I would highly advise you to set the repeaters as base stations and run them that way. Are these both in close proximity to each other and have a similar coverage footprint? If so you might consider running one as a linked repeater to the system of your choosing and leave the other one as a stand alone for local traffic. If the coverage is the same of very similar then it's a waste of resources to have them both linked to the same system taking up two different repeater pairs with matching traffic on them.

  7. OMG..... THIS AGAIN?!?!?! Talk about the beating of a dead horse and we are 5 pages in AGAIN. Not typing the reply again. Go read it here. You really don't want DMR on GMRS. You might think you do.... but the problems it will cause will quickly set you straight.

  8. If they are not cognizant of what's already installed in their area and are interfering with an existing repeater then yes, they are being irresponsible.

  9. Bring up the KG-1000 software and go to the "Scan Group" tab and create two scan groups such as GMRS and Reptrs (you are limited to 6 characters). Assign each scan group what channels you want assigned to that group - must be sequential channel numbers. By default the GMRS simplex channels on the KG1000 are channels 1-22 and the repeater channels are 23-30 Load the "GMRS" scan group on the left VFO (display) and the "Reptrs" on the other A few things to consider: See the below example - since the scan list works by sequential channel numbers, its a good idea to save frequencies to channels numbers in groups and leave gaps for adding new channels to that scan group. If you are scanning something like 70cm ham repeaters then save those channels as channel 200-299. The KG-1000G+ I had (first week they came out) had a bug on dual scanning. Instructions say start scanning on one side, press the band button to go to the other side and hit scan and you can scan both sides at once. There is/was a bug that pressing the band or scan button (sold the radio, forgot what button) to change sides on the radio itself to start scanning on the one side then the other side would stop scanning. If you hit the button on the microphone it works fine. Don't know if that's still the case.
