  1. You consider yourself lucky
  2. You might want to check if the repeater is using split tones that also may be your problem need to check with the owner if the repeater is programmed that way I have the original Midland MXT 400 which is narrowband I have no issue with Tx the only I need to open the squelch to receive
  3. Already done!! Looking forward to the results later tonight
  4. So far, it's quiet here (only 9:20 am here) but wait until tonight regardless of where you live you will bound to have issue that goes along with elections of any kind, I remember 2020 very well. Cars screeching up and down the block and also idiots firing off their guns and all that it was until the following morning before everything calmed down.
  5. I agree the purpose of this forum is to assist new user and give him/her advice on how to operate their radio the proper way not to shoot down their request for help
  6. You can but I would use unit designations like unit 1 or 2 to minimize any confusion to whoever you're talking to. And to your second question the answer is yes
  7. Hi, I know this is an old thread but I'm just wondering what time of day you are attempting to make contact just wondering.
  8. Well, it depends what time of the day you're trying to make contact. For us here in California during the day people do have regular work to go to and some they are on the HAM side of things. Most traffic occurs during early evenings and the nighttime. Anyone want to add anything further please do so.
  9. Oh yes, I learned from experience never argue or say anything negative about the repeater you never know that the repeater owner you're asking permission to you to use his repeater might be monitoring the forum.
  10. Not all repeaters are listed. Elco1 or LA1 are the name of the repeaters
  11. Wow, I didn't realize that my comment sparks a grammar war now too (lol)
  12. Again, I ask. if you need permission to use a listed open repeater why not list it as a permission only repeater? To me that would have been better and that's what I would've done.
  13. If that's the case don't list it as open repeater list it as permission only that will solve the issue wouldn't it!!!
  14. If it was free access, I wouldn't have to ask permission for access. Am I right or wrong?
  15. I guess I learned the hard way not ever to argue with anyone actually owner or not
  16. Wouldn't you think if you need permission to use the repeater why don't you list it as permission only instead of open?
  17. That repeater in question was a stones throw away from where I lived too. That's too bad
  18. Thanks, guys, for all the useful information.
  19. Yes, I got the idea right away when I got a notice that I was denied use of the repeater.
  20. Why does repeater owner list the repeater as open with the tones listed and when you key it up the owner comes on and say that you need permission. if he was going to do that, wouldn't you list it as permission only? To top it off i was denied use of the repeater because I argued with him. Was this the proper way to go do thing or this is the norm on GMRS?
  21. Another question I want to ask everyone is that if you own a repeater can the repeater be programmed to use inverted tones also? I got a project going on and I want to make sure i'm doing it right so that's why I'm asking the expert
  22. Thanks for that info. I was not sure if you could
  23. Just wondering if Inverted tones can be used on GMRS? Do you recommend it being used?
  24. Do this repeater have split tones, or they use the same tones for tx and rx the reason I ask some repeater uses split tones to minimize interference
