  1. Does this includes the MDC tones that some of these radios have?
  2. Since they are using your callsign you will be responsible for their action on the airwaves. If they violate the rule, you're the one the FCC comes after since it's your callsign their using. (Just as a reminder)
  3. I am assuming this is a dual band radio? The reason I ask is that MURS is on the VHF side of the spectrum and GMRS is on the UHF side.
  4. And no he wasn't on simplex either
  5. I'm not going to start a debating war here but I do here Roger beeps on GMRS band. I was actually talking to someone on the repeater side of the band today and I heard the tone when he unkeyed.
  6. You might want to be careful on using Roger beep on the GMRS band not all repeater owners are fond of roger beeps being used on their machine
  7. Can you imagine that happening on the GMRS band you most likely fry the repeaters while you're at it.
  8. The only reason 220MHz is not used here is because of Military bases radar system here in California 220MHz is totally dead here
  9. Thanks for the clarification
  10. Well said I couldn't have said it any better. Leave the GMRS spectrum alone!!!
  11. This wouldn't been an issue if the FCC knew what they were doing to GMRS by combining the 2 services together and see what a mess it caused, and now they want to put DMR on GMRS oh hell no!!!
  12. I think we should put this issue to rest once in for all. NO DIGITAL ON GMRS!!!!
  13. I would use the 2 bad radios for parts in case there's issue with the new radio. I'm glad this issue was posted because I was going to purchase this radio, and now I'm having second thoughts
  14. For some reason or another the FCC site doesn't work well with the Firefox browser like you I switched to Chrome and logged in with no issues
  15. It doesn't transmit at all if i'm reading correctly
  16. FYI GMRS CHANNEL16 IS 462.575 NOT 525
  17. What's the difference? Other than one is used in the UK?
  18. I would like to change channel however all traffic I do is on the repeater side and when I try to explain to the simplex user to give me a few minutes to check in then I will leave you alone, but no you do have smart a***s think they own the channel and that's when I get mad.
  19. The thing that I don't like about clubs is that they (Group Leader) make it a point to change things without notifying their members of procedural changes and when they try to log in to the page only to find out they have to request for membership all over again that's why membership in groups are dropping IMO.
  20. It was on 725 but I see your point.
  21. Thanks goodness that there weren't any emergency at that time, but thanks for quoting me the rules so now I know.
  22. Hi I have a different issue here. We have simplex station using GMRS22 and here the problem is that we have our CERT net every Tuesday night on 462.725 and during the net on several occasions I thought heard other signal comes in with the operator trying to check in. I found out later that the other signal is coming from a station on the simplex side of the channel, but if you have an emergency and keeps getting interfered with by the simplex station isn't that a violation? Just curious what you guys think and oh by the way the station in question is using illegal power cause when they key up they cover all the stations on the repeater side.
  23. Ok Here's my thought doesn't nodes connected to GMRS repeaters count as illegal operation also? They're connected to the GMRS network, but it's deemed legal to do so.
  24. What frequency was this system on?
