I support the right to free speech too, but if they are going to use the radios, they should use them legally. Half of the time they don't even check the if the frequency is in use, they just key up like they own the frequency. There are times when I do hear these conversations on the input side of the repeaters too, and no call signs ever given when they start and finish.
And when you try to tell them that they're using their radios illegally they come back at you with a snark comments. I actually told them I'm going to report them to the FCC and after I said that i never heard them on the channel again. So they actually know what they're doing is illegal
I can understand if this happens once in a while, but it's happening everyday. The thing is that the signal will one day comes in strong and there's day it's weak. (But on 462MHz that's quite far to be receiving anything from 470-490 range)
Yes 451 MHz here locally is used by local television stations and also their news helicopters However this signal I'm receiving is defiantly on the 462MHz side.
I'm sure this question has been asked, but is it legal to broadcast Television programs on FRS? I thought it's illegal on all band correct me if I'm wrong.
Every morning I scan all band as a hobby of mine when it came on the 462mhz the scan stops on FRS7(462.7125) and I pick up a faint but readable signal. Not regular transmission but like a program of some sort being broadcasted. What my question is it legal? Thanks in advance.
Hopefully I posted this on the right location if not feel free to move it.
That's what's going on here in the Nothern California area right now. Once you let them on you will never get a word in, they (DMR USERS) will take over the band and render all analog radios useless.
If you do that it makes sense to list your repeater as a "Permission only" Also as to lessen any confusion if you want people to find your tones just post them so there's no confusion. That's just my 2 cents worth.
Here in California, I hear the Urban Search and Rescue units in the county uses CH3 151.940 for their training.
It's amazing how they coordinate the units for the exercise.
Ok you do that what happens to the other honest people who uses your repeater what about them? You shut them off the repeater use because of a few bad apples who abuses the use of the repeater you wound up losing people to other repeaters in the area.
However, after saying that since you're the owner of the repeater you can do whatever you want to your own machine.
When I heard that the FCC was going to let FRS share the frequency with GMRS I wasn't happy with the Idea of channel sharing, but I decided what's done is done until the FCC approved the power change from 1/2 watt to 2 watts. I didn't understand the reasoning for that, and I knew when they did that all heck would break loose and here it is.
