I do both. But I'm primarily on repeater. The main reason I'm on repeater is for distance communications and simplex for local traffic within one or two miles from my location.
By FCC rules you need to indentify your station every 15 minutes when you have a QSO and as you said to end your conversation and sign out too. Sent from my Z5156CC using Tapatalk
Hi I wouldn't know what brand meter that youll be needing so I would recommend either looking on eBay or Amazon. Hopefully there you'll be able to find what you need.
It depends on which repeater you want to listen to 550 is on 462.550 and that is channel 15 each different repeater has different ctcss tones you got to look up the name of the repeater and find out the tones
What location are you in and what frequency that the interference is on? And you are correct in saying that this incident has criminal intent. Just let your daughter know if that person comes on the air again and ask her personal question that she do not talk to that person. Recording is a good idea but whoever the person is may not be in one location and may be moving around so that he cannot be traced exactly where he's at. I would just notified the local authorities and let them know what has been going on. And inform the FCC of your current situation. Other than that I cannot give you any suggestions on what to do I wish I can do more
Hi the frequency you posted is FRS (Family Radio Service) CH3 you may have picked up stray signal coming from the frequency. Please note that GMRS CH 18 and FRS CH3 is close to each other frequency wise CH 18 is 462.625 and as you posted FRS CH3 is 462.6125 as you can see the frequency is only 12.5khz away from each other. (PLEASE CORRECT IF WRONG)
Hi this is more a question than an answer. I just want to know is there any rules stating that repeater owners that list their repeater have to have a valid callsign to list their repeater on here. Is there a rule in general that the owner have to have a GMRS license?
THATS FRS CH7 THAT IS A SHARED FRS/GMRS FREQUENCY IF IM NOT MISTAKEN. ABOUT WHAT YOU HEARD IT COULD BE ANYTHING. I DON'T KNOW THE AREA YOU MAY BE IN BUT THE ASSUMPTION OF HOSPITAL USE IS NOT FAR OFF.
Tones benefits all of us. There are so many stations on 1 frequency you will hear every stations on the same frequency without the tones and you talk about interference
We have Costco, Wallmart, Target, Winco Foods here in Roseville and i do hear traffic on 154.570 and 154.600. I once in a while i hear traffic on 151.625 not sure who uses that frequency but i do hear conversations on there. Sent from my SM-T530NU using Tapatalk
Yes you need to be careful things like this website like this can be spoofed by people who wants your info to do bad things. The main thing is your identity. Sent from my SM-T530NU using Tapatalk
Ok so if this is the case my question is are simplex users responsible to check if anyone is using the same frequency on duplex mode? Several times i am chatting with my friends and i seem to hear someone else riding on my friends signal. I asked if someone want to use the repeater no answer and as soon we got back into our conversation it happends again. So i went to simplex mode and sure thing i heard several station chatting on simplex pretty close to me and I told them that there's repeater traffic on the frequency and they were gentlemanly enough to change channels but normally are the simplex users responsiblity to check before they key up? Frequency is 462.700 (No tones due to privicy and owner requset)
