Logan5 reacted to PastorGary in Gonna program my M1225 with the repeater pairs and Interstitial freqs.
Robert - Welcome to MyGMRS Forum... nice to have you with us. Your M1225 might be used for receive only on your Clark County EMS patch on 460.62500. As you know, most everything in UHF for State Operations is P-25, now, but there are a few Interoperability UHF channels in FM narrowband that might be used locally between agencies. Those would be RECEIVE frequencies of 453.21250, 453.46250, 453.71250, and 453.86250. These are interagency calling and tactical frequencies.
Good luck with your project.

Logan5 reacted to Erus1370 in Houston 725 help
This might've been me. I got my GMRS license a couple months ago and was just seeing what repeaters I could hit from home.
Time line coincides with my testing/keying up. Never transmitted a message though and don't recall anyone transmitting either.
(First post ever!!!)

You are a mad scientist, in a good way. Great Job so far! That shed should give you a nice surface and angle to mount the solar panels.

I didn't get too many pics of the process. the gentleman who did the climbing did all the work from trimming to the mounting of the antenna. I found it very difficult not being the one up in the air doing the work. it is also the first time I have ever hoisted an antenna whole w/cable attached to it.
on a side note I was amazed at how little the tree moved compared to a tower.
anyway pics

I used a test channel at 100W to check the SWR reflected power was 0.8W. I expect pretty good coverage out of this. will do further field testing w/genset and the repeater over the next couple of weeks.

antenna was mounted into the tree yesterday. man what a job, took 8hrs to trim top and mount , pull and secure the cable. will post what pics I have later. I was pretty on about the height measured from base to the bottom hole for the mount was 74' , +10 for the pipe and the antenna is 78" over that.

Logan5 reacted to rdunajewski in Blue Line on Map
We've just added a new repeater to the network in Brick, NJ and it's undergoing testing. So when you see more blue lines, it means we're growing! Anyone else who may be interested can send me a PM and I will give the details.

Two antennas met up on a roof, fell in love and got married. The ceremony wasn't much, but the
'reception' was fantastic.

Logan5 reacted to WQUN760 in Duplexer Tuning / Distance Without Duplexer
I have a GM300 setup, but now I need a duplexer. Is it possible to get one tuned for RX "467.xxx" and TX "462.xxx" and not the /exact/ frequency? I would like to hop between frequencies as I travel without having to pull out a duplexer for each pair.
Also, if I want to scrap the duplexer idea altogether and just do two antennas, any thoughts on distance between the two (at 10watts)?
Regards,
KQUN760

Logan,
Yes this was done several weeks ago and all we did was use a marine battery and hooked it up and it worked real well.We didn't try anything else but there is no skip in between switching from AC to DC the transition went smoothly...William

Logan5 reacted in Farthest GMRS contact I have ever had
Hello Guys,
See if the repeater owner wants to register it himself and he can also join in with us in the forums.Policy states the owner of a GMRS repeater has to register it themselves. We would be happy to have him on board and welcome him to register it...William

Logan5 reacted to Billy in Farthest GMRS contact I have ever had
Yes absolutely, this is the place to list your repeater if you wish for it to be somewhat public. The main reason is for band cooperation. So others know who, what and where the repeaters are so that nobody sets up on your doorstep. Repeater cooperation is very important given the limited bandwith allotted to GMRS repeaters.

I have the Motorola MS350's. They do work with repeaters and go a decent distance. The battery life is terrible, just use AA or some other rechargeable packs.

Logan - so sorry to hear of your blight - I keep reading and learning from your experience and will be reaching out to you as a resource when I am ready to put a tower & repeater up. I should not have neighbor problems as I will be somewhat isolated.
Good luck and keep us posted !

Logan5 reacted to quarterwave in 462.650
I used to hear a guy who had a vox activated intercom on GMRS freqs sitting beside his scanner. I think he was trying to use it be able to hear his scanner somewhere else in the house, didn't realize it could be heard further away. It didn't last long, as you could always hear personal stuff being discussed too...I think he would forget to turn the vox off. I guessed it was a .5 to 1 watt, something like the ones Audiovox made. I was speculating that I was within a half mile of him.
If you are getting a good signal, odds are someone is doing it intentionally, people wanting to do "neat" stuff all time, and either don't care it is not legal, or ignorant to the rules.
