  1. I have just purchased a AT5888UV. Dual band VHF and UHF. Part 90. 4 power levels. Crossband repeater function. I don't like the small display. Radio has about the same foot print as the MXT400. Still playing with it. Needed a radio that could to 2 meter and GMRS. Fits the bill so far. Used Motorola M1225's off of Ebay for around $135 each programmed out the door. I have 6 currently. Great talker. Yes I would say I am a Motorola fan. Thanks WRCW870 KI5GXD
  2. I have a question about Id'ing on ham or gmrs. If I am calling another contact. Say my call then calling and the other call sign? Or the other way around? Thanks. WRCW870 KI5GXD.

  4. The problem was the firmware in the radio. Btech put out version 1.07. After I installed it I can hear everything I should. Been real happy with this radio. The speaker is much louder that the GMRS-V1. WRCW870 KI5GXD
  5. I have scanned there PL tone with my Btech GMRS-V1 and messed with some businesses. Kinda fun. They think it is private. WRCW870
  6. Hello, I am having a problem with my radio. I am not sure who to ask for help. I bought this radio because it is part 90 certified. I will use it for GMRS and HAM operations. Here is what I am having problems with. I am wanting to monitor the local police dept. They are DMR. I have the Group number, Color Code, and Slot programmed. I receive parts of the traffic. We programmed in another channel with the same result. I am thinking it is a firmware problem. Has anyone else had problems like this? Thanks WRCW870 WI5GXD
  7. Welcome to the forum young padwan.
  8. I want that .8db's of gain to my DB420 antenna. Every little bit helps when you are using walkie-talkies. Go big or go home! I don't think the AVA7-50 is the same quality as the LDF7-50 was. I may have a line on some NOS LDF7-50. WRCW870
  9. Surplus server is who is selling the Draka cable.
  10. Option #1: RFA 1 5/8”-50 NKRFA15800 Option #2: RFA 2 1/4”-50 NKRFA21400 Is this the information you need?
  11. I am needing some professional feedback. The person's tower that I am waiting on to move some LDF7-50 from another tower to the 199 tower that will some day have my repeater atop. I have been waiting for 6 months for this to happen. I am still getting excuses on why this still hasn't happened yet. I have reached out the in internet and started shopping for a 225' piece of LDF7-50. I know that this product was discontinued some years ago. The person I talked to said to go with "Draka" cable. This is made in Finland. The specs look comparable to Andrews cable. Need some feedback on the "Draka" brand cable. First hand knowledge preferred. Thanks WRCW870
  12. I have had 3 of the 6bd gain Midland antenna's melt the load coil. I am not buying any more of these. MARCSPAZ please send me information on buying the Motorola 6db antenna's. Thanks WRCW870
  13. Currently have maybe 16ft of LMR400Superflex. Only have antenna mounted on the 11ft pole beside the equipment shack. The antenna is a DB420. The interference problem is a good possibility. There is a repeater on VHF for the Sheriff's department. The rest is a WIFI. I was thinking It could be on purpose because of how random it is. WRCW870
  14. Happens on multiple radios. Time of day doesn't matter. Also could happen after a few transmissions or after 45 minutes on the air. Both radios on the conversation are unable to raise the repeater. I am unable to check the SWR. Unable to turn off PL tone on repeater.
  15. We have noticed this on a few occasions. When the mobile keys up the repeater fails to respond. Just does this for a few minutes or less. We thought is was maybe a power failure at the tower site. We have the repeater on battery back up then transfers to standby generator. So power failure is not the problem. Have been unable to get to of be at the repeater when this happens. It is just like its turned off. The repeater is a ICOM FR-4000. I have had it in service for several months. This has happened maybe 6 times. Any ideas? Thanks WRCW870
  16. The repeater melted one, The M1225 Motorola on John's truck melted one and the one on the MXT 400 at the base is leaning over. That's three on three different radios.
  17. I have had several of the load coils melt on this antenna. I guess I need to find a different antenna. Would like to have another 6 db gain antenna but I can't find one. The best nest one I could find was 5.5db. I Think it was a Tram antenna. Has anyone else had trouble with the load coil melting? What are your suggestions for a high gain replacement? Thanks WRCW870 PS Just driving with 40W radios
  18. I have a question about duplexers. I understand what they do. I would like some more understanding about the differences between say a 3 cavity, 4 cavity and 6 cavity duplexer? What would be the reasons to get more captivity vs not? The tower I am on only has a public safety repeater in VHF and 2.5Ghz or above wifi systems. Teach me. I want to lean more. Thanks WRCW870
  19. Interesting. That makes it difficult to users to access the sties. Why not just get a LMR licence? I like talking to different stations. Thanks for the information.I learn something everyday. WRCW870
  20. I have joined several GMRS groups and forums. I had this posted that I had a question about. I guess where this new user lives the repeaters have split codes to access the repeater. I have looked at many repeaters and I haven't saw any split code ones. This would make most off the shelf radios useless. You would need to special program a business radio or go with btech radio. Just asking if this is common or obscure? Thanks WRCW870
  21. Please see post: https://forums.mygmrs.com/topic/1425-weather-radio/
  22. It's my repeater. The tones are the same. We have 8 other radios including other GMRS-V1 radios programming with both tones. They all work fine. except WRDH378's unit. Has to be a problem with radio. However I don't thing it is repairable. WRCW870
  23. So it's a matter of how you read it?
  24. The maximum power for GMRS is 50 watts. The repeater is 50 watts out of the duplexer or out of the radio before the duplexer? I need code and verse please. Thanks WRCW870
  25. The btech gmrs-v1 and Motorola makes one with repeater offsets. And of course you can use a part 90 commercial radio.
