Having 50 BMG reloading stuff isn't all that weird. I have a set of dies for the .455 Webley. Just incase I ever do find a Webley Fosbery. I found the dies covered with dust in a shop in Culver city. I don't know if they didn't know what they had or the counter guy just looked at the dust covered box and pull a number out of his, err, hat. But $25 brought them home.

My dad impressed on me the point of using the right tool for the job. https://remstoolsusa.com/rems-164011-contact-2000-electric-soldering-unit/

My favorite 1911, a Randall lefty service model wears a laser.

Boy is the new owner gonna be PO'd when the FCC swat team raids his house at O Dark Thirty.

Personal opinion only. But with the billions (possibly trillions) of gallons of leaded gasoline that was used you'd think we would all be dead. But strangely lead poisoning is quite rare. Yea, we wore protective gear in the tetraethyllead house, but the concentration was so far above what the average person would ever be exposed is enormous.

Oh how I lusted after an original 44 Automag. But alas, two kids a wife and a mortgage came first. However if anyone knows where a Webley Fosbery can be found fairly reasonable, let me know.

I never saw the need to get a .500 S&W. A heavily loaded .45 colt is enough for me, and I can get repeated shots much faster then the .500. Honestly If I need anything more I'm going to a rifle like this.

Regarding soldering. Back in Jr High we had to take several shop classes, wood, metal, electrical and drafting. You learned skills like soldering. Today I don't think they even have shop classes. That's one big reason most kids today can't do something as simple as solder.

Geesh! Paranoia is growing rampant. Thank heavens the federal, state and local governments have access to every bit of my information. That way I don't have to wring my hands and whimper about it. And as to regular folks knowing about me, just ask, I love to talk about myself. Not to mention I have accumulated some really good stories over the last 70+ years. I suppose some one could try to steal my identity but since any fraud committed by such means wouldn't be done by me, I'd just choose to ignore any blowback. I just inform folks it wasn't me so deal with it. Besides, I am an old fart much closer to the end than the start and that makes ME completely unpredictable.

I'm not saying you can't be charged if you change your credit card number. I'm saying your financial institution can't deduct from your account if you tell them not to. If they do, they are liable. I've always notified my bank when I stop an auto pay. Maybe it's unnecessary and all the companies I have dealt with are open and above board. It's your money, take charge of it.
-
You should get bank statements monthly. If you read those you should know of any "auto" payments. If you cancel something with an auto payment and get charged again, call your bank. it's an unauthorized debit and the bank will kill it and either reimburse it or claw it back. Companies with auto payments are required to notify you, using the contact info you supply, before withdrawals are made. Why pay for a "service" when all you need to do is read your bank statement?

A couple of things about every forum I participated in. You have to have thick skin or your precious ego will be destroyed. Everyone has and is entitled to, even if they don't share mine and are wrong, opinions. And sweating the small stuff is not only fun but educational. Life is full of mystery and controversy. Embrace them.

You had fire? That must have been invented later. -
Hey, I tried to drift the thread to .45 acp versus 9mm.

Wouxun Mobile Magnet Mic Hanger defect description and fix
WSHH887 replied to WRNU354's question in Technical Discussion
What fun would that be. Some of us look for stuff like that to "fix" for the heck of it. My wife was complaining that the new larger paper towel rolls wouldn't fit her holder. I said buy a new one, she like the existing one. So out to the garage, a full roll of the triples a tape measure and the appropriate sized drill bits. Less than five minutes. She's happy and I got to use tools. -
Though here's an interesting one. I'm down on the coast in Los Angeles. Went to the store and turned on my radio. I was picking up folks from Victorville and Barstow which is about 140 miles and over some relatively high (SoCal speaking) mountains. This was not off of a repeater. Radio waves can be some sneaky things. Can't hear someone a block away, but hear someone from over a hundred miles away.

Good thing we agree or this thread would get hijacked.

I have a better use for grass.
-
So if it's "not for profit" do they have do the appropriate tax paperwork?
-
For the experts, is it even in accordance with FCC to have a commercially operated repeater?
-
Relax. Every "hobby" has subjects that come up from time to time and elicit opinions guaranteed to create chaos. Heck, after over a century of coexistence, asking which is better .45acp or 9mm will result in weeks of debate on firearms forums.

Using The Correct Tools For The Job Are Always Essential!!
WSHH887 replied to tcp2525's topic in General Discussion
Even the best professionals can make mistakes. One that comes to mind was a journeyman electrician who was installing a back of batteries as part of a large UPS system. He somehow became part of the circuit. Lived but never worked again. Sad part about this was though it was through his own failure he sued and won. Bleeding hearts will side with the electrician. But it ended up making the company owner decided to retire. It ended up costing about 30 people their jobs. And destroyed a great company that was pretty well respected. -

I was just going to mention finding out that just because an old B&W TV was unplugged doesn't mean it can't bite. There are just places you shouldn't put a screwdriver. -

Fortunately my work never involved more than 220. A lot was DC control power and 120 that was relay controlled to the equipment. But an old electrician gave me some advice early on. Have two sets of tools. One for electrical and the other for everything else. Keep them in separate tool bags and never mix them. I always bought the best tools I could afford. Retired now I still keep my electrical tools segregated from my others. Old habits die hard if you follow them, you will too. -

Still prefer Klein. And I have never trusted those pen type devices to see if a circuit is live. I do have one old Fluke meter. All it measures is 129 or 240 voltage. It must be close to 60 years old now.
