  1. What? Why? WHY do you feel it necessary to record/remember/care about someone's call sign?
  2. Just another Tuesday at the MyGMRS forums..
  3. Something is very wrong. Those radios, right out of the box should be loud and clear at up to at least 1/2 mile or more, assuming no mountains/hills between the cars. I would try more testing outside to rule out a problem with the radios or something in one/both of the cars causing the problem.
  4. I would first locate exact what/where "in the cab" the squeal is coming from, and go from there.
  5. DORKS.. The politically correct term is radio-DORKS... "Radio geeks" is offensive and hurtful to geeks.
  6. Geezus.. You should go outside.. and leave the radio in the basement.
  7. No.. Try this: Do a full reset. Reprogram the radio BY HAND, do not load anything via software if it does it again call BTWR and tell them to send you one that is not defective
  8. This is how I do it: "Stink-Finger to Hoochi Momma, do you copy? .... KMG365, clear"
  9. There is no "add a hum to the audio when tones are enabled" setting that you can turn on or off.. My guess is an aging capacitor is causing the hum.
  10. FarsoMeter 2000 - measures in both imperial and metric and it is so accurate and precise that you need a license just to use it.. It is coveted by H.A.M. radio operators around the world.
  11. What?! Of course it does! How else will we determine who thinks they are the smartest?!
  12. I wouldn't give the FCC any of that information unless they sent me a warrant demanding it.
  13. It is $20 cheaper than the Midland GXT67 Pro and many people consider it to be a better radio.. So, as mentioned in my video, my previous perspective was rooted in fear and ignorance ... FYI - comparison of the Rocky Talkie and the Midland GXT67 Pro coming soon.
  14. I think i made my perspective pretty clear in my recent review.
  15. Direct purchase from their website or via Amazon?
  16. Theoretically, on paper, MURS is a better choice due to the lower frequencies - HOWEVER, in my head-2-head testing, it was not much/if any better than GMRS. I assumed because of the additional power on GMRS. HOWEVER - i have not done much testing in THICK forest or anywhere chock-full of vegetation, because we don't have that were I live so i defer to anyone with better/more data.
  17. There is nothing really to "configure".. Assuming you have a well placed and well-tuned antenna with no obstructions between you and the other radio a mile away, my guess is that the duplexer is not well-tuned for whatever channel you are using. I would try testing on all 8 repeater channels to see if one works better. If you still can't get any better than one-mile, and assuming it is not an antenna or terrain issue (ie; if your handheld or mobile radio can reach 5 miles from that same location) then I would contact BTech support and tell them to send you one that works.
  18. My advice is to create a new topic/thread instead of necroposting on this one, which is about a totally different radio.

    GRMS Needed?

It is becoming the norm for off-roading, but when I'm out I scan/listen to all channels.
  20. That is not a standard GMRS repeater configuration and most (if not all) GMRS radios will not allow you to configure it.
  21. Yup.. I got 38W IIRC, then 5 minutes later, it died. .....save the box...
  22. You have the Surecom plugged into the DummyLoad, right? If so, that is better than the antenna.. Make sure you have the repeater set to HIGH power, and if so, and you're only getting 8Watts, call BTech and tell them to send you one that works as advertised, or do what i did, just get your money back.
