  1. Just received Comet CP-5NMO from DX and this is so well made and so well thought out. Should be a breeze to install especially with the thinner gauge at the mount end. Bummer it's going to be in the teens for the next few weeks, way too cold for an install, but will give me plenty of time to plan. DX sent me some cool stickers too. Happy about that as well. lol
  2. Ordered the Comet CP-5NMO! Thanks for not letting me totally fail guys! On a side note are Tram mag mounts any good?
  3. Please delete. Got answer in this thread:
  4. That's the mount i initially looked at. Technically there are no rubber grommets on the Nagoya mount. But i think returning may be a better idea.
  5. Yes, definitely as it came. Just didn't screw down all the way.
  6. Okay, i'll switch it back the way it came. Kind of what i thought initially but was not sure since the gap was big. I have some rubber grommets coming so ill throw one on. Should i throw on some Dielectric grease for good measure?
  7. I ordered a bunch of rubber washers. lol
  8. Just got both and was checking fitment and noticed the Comet SBB-1 NMO antenna on the Nagoya RB-700N NMO mount doesn't screw down all the way. Tested my CA-2X4SR NMO and same issue. Fits tight but has a little space so must be the mount. So i took the mount apart and flipped the white spacer and now it almost mounts perfectly flush, like any NMO mount i have. From this: To this: Which looks like this: But this doesn't seem right ether.... Should i revert it back and get a rubber washer, or just use some Dielectric grease? Or is it good with the swap/switch?
  9. HMM, you have a rubber grommet there too that seems to take up the same spacing. Maybe its normal?
  10. Well i fixed it by flipping the interior white spacer, not that it seems any of my NMO antennas mount all the way onto the mount perfectly water tight.
  11. That's what i thought. Not sure which is defective. Was thinking Dielectric grease may help, but i guess its clearly a defect/issue. Hmm, mount i believe?
  12. Got the Comet SBB-1 NMO and a RB-700N NMO mount so i can mount on my hatch so it will clear the garage, but the antenna doesn't screw all the way down. There is a washer inside the antenna mount part that i think is supposed to be their: And the antenna tightened all the way has a little space: Is that a problem?
  13. Way back (Early 90's) I purchased this high power RadioShack GMRS radio that lead me to getting my GMRS license: And now i have a few H3's that sparked my interest in radio again, as well as the KGQ10: It's truly incredible how far we have come, yet still work off the same principles. Wish I could get the old RadioShack running again, I lost the charging cable but have an adjustable charger. But that battery simply won't charge enough to transmit or light the display for long as I am sure if I could it would work just as it did on day one.
  14. Thanks, good to know. I was contemplating doing this for a longer antenna if i couldn't go with something short anyway.
  15. A bit pricey, but if it works well its a solution. My center mounted mag mount is ideal for placement so i would like to stick with it.
  16. I really liked my Tidradio H3 as a starter, it has really sparked my interest in radio again with all its potential capabilities for those with self control. So much has changed since my first GMRS RadioShack radio in the early 90's.
  17. Appears they are gone, but roomer on my old Radar Detector forum is that someone bought them and will be back in January.
  18. Voted yes since no one else did and i have no idea what the question really is.
  19. I may just have to go with the Comet SBB-1 NMO and a lip mount for my hatch. Not ideal, but i'm sure it will be better than a GMRS antenna.
  20. Thank you. But even 16" will be too tall. lol I have about 6" at most. Its the tough part about having a truck and mag mount NMO.
  21. You used ODMaster to program? So you checked it and programed it? Not sure the question if you programed it. Is it a GMRS model? Basically your radio will have more common frequencies programed and they would be in ODMaster if you copied them. Repeater's will need to be manually added and that will depend on what's available and where you live. Basically ODMaster is an extension of what you can manually program into your radio with a few more features over bluetooth in an app. It's to make it easier than manually entering through your radio.
  22. Love monitoring these bands but my GMRS ghost antenna (or mini Midland) just doesn't hack it and the few i have seen that can do 2m & 70cm aren't rated well. My garage really only has enough clearance for a ghost antenna so maybe there is another option that's super short? I would rather not have to fold or remove since i do have a CA-2X4SR when i don't need my garage.
  23. I was contemplating the same thing for my H3 and Q10H but i don't think it will work on my Q10H since it has a ridge along where the antenna goes. But i did find this that should work for my SMA-M radio: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BPC696CN/?coliid=I2OU9J9HJL6K9E&colid=12UK8YYKL4S69&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it
  24. Thank you! I may add the spring. but i'll try it without first. I will likely only use it as needed since most of my off road radio use is with GMRS and i have that Midland that works well. But i'm really loving listening to all the other bands and this antenna should be perfect.
  25. Doesn't look like you have the spring option. Is it pretty stable at high speeds?
