Same here: I am a member of a rather large SoCal Ham Repeater system that has linked analog repeaters on mostly 70 cms and it is fun to get communications from so many areas. But yes, we have to not rag-chew for too long, so as to not tie up the system. But they also offer DMR (Brandmeister) and there I am happy to chat as long as I want with so many different "channels" to chose from!

TYT TH-8600 vs Rugged ABM-25/GMR-25
MichaelLAX replied to WRFP399's question in Technical Discussion
What does that dongle do for you? I am not familiar with the context of an "intercom" on GMRS or other two-way radio. -
GMR45 Jeep kit from Rugged Radios - any good?
MichaelLAX replied to Sandspur's topic in General Discussion
I purchased my original Anytone AT-779UV (the exact clone of the Radioddity DB20-G) from letsgetready.com as well as the GM-30 clone, the ham radio TYT-UV-88, which can be easily opened to transmit on GMRS. John gives fast service and free shipping! -

Why no state issued GMRS call sign license plates?

That's a pretty dangerous suggestion: So I could acquire WRQC527 if I want it?!? This is one of your suggestions, that I clearly do NOT agree with! -

Why no state issued GMRS call sign license plates?

When I quote you ("In fact, there are tales [probably exaggerated]") and then I say "we are both in agreement," you cannot question my after the fact agreement with your quote. Too late, sorry! And there you go again, making statements (see bolded text) that I also agree with! As to your statement: "I only know of one case that actually happened;" because you were there? -
Some guy on this Forum started a thread about a GMRS/MURS repeater! ?

In unlocked mode, the REV function works perfectly, including on the GMRS channels.

In that case: we are both in agreement! -
I think that the charging stand with my GM-30 clone, the Pofung P15UV works.

Go to Repeaters up near the top of the page, then add "Flagship" to the "Search" box and then click Near Me. As @Sshannonnoted, if the Repeater is not open to the general GMRS public, the tones will not be published, but will require, in general, some form of communication to possibly get them. Sometimes there will be a REQUEST ACCESS button for you to click.

GMR45 Jeep kit from Rugged Radios - any good?
MichaelLAX replied to Sandspur's topic in General Discussion
Yes, a local GMRS user in Malibu told me that the City of Malibu funds his group to build out DB20-G GoBoxes for distribution to its citizens. -
Some GMRS radios still have a "Reverse" function, which does just that, such as the Raddioddity DB20-G: NEVER MIND: I double checked on my newest not-modified DB20-G and indeed REV does NOT work in GMRS mode.

I was speaking about California's implementation of Ham Plates/Vanity plates: Was your friend pulled over in California; I doubt it. Note the bolded statements in your quote... -

Radioddity DB20-G as easy to use as: 1-2-3: 1) Plug into cigarette lighter; and plug in antenna; 2) Select appropriate Repeater Channel 23-30; and 3) Push FUN button, select appropriate Tone from 01:T-CTC Menu using Up and Down arrow buttons; then push FUN button to exit Menu Mode Start using your Repeater! Tons of user feedback on this Forum alone! -

Pure urban myth: My old California vanity plate, W7ML, is simply that: If the CHP runs "W-7-M-L" they got me; nobody else can order that as a Vanity plate. -

Check out the Radioddity DB20-G mobile ($109, 20 watts, cigarette lighter plug, optional cup mount) and GM-30 HT ($39): -
Welcome! Which radio do you have? Many can use additional channels for repeaters on the same frequency but with different tones to access them. And to scan public service frequencies that you cannot transmit on.
-
[Repeater] -- [Transmit Frequency] [Receive Frequency] | | [Transmit Tone] [Receive Tone] You want to transmit on the Repeaters Input Receive Frequency 467.550 - 467.725 with the needed Receive Tone so that the Repeater will receive your transmission and then re-transmit it on the Repeaters Output Transmit Frequency 462.550 - 462.725. Some Repeaters also add a Tone to their retransmission of your transmission, Transmit Frequency, but it is optional for users of this Repeater to set their receive tone to be able to hear the Repeater. It's a bit confusing but your GMRS transmit frequency is set to 467.550 - 467.725 with the needed Tone, and your GMRS receive frequency is set to 462.550 - 462.725 with the Tone being optional and usually recommended to be no Tone until perhaps you are satisfied that all is working well.

What versions firmware before and after update? Hopefully you "upgraded" the firmware and did not install an earlier version. I checked my library and I have firmware versions: 20200107 20210306 20210403 20210615 and here is the original default codeplug that I have in my library but I am not sure which version of firmware it matches with: default radioddity.data And here is a screenshot of the default codeplug with V2.06 of the Radioddity GM-30 CPS software:

Oh, these radios do not use K-Type connectors, they must have the so-called "waterproof" connectors. So disregard my post above! Good price, so long as it works and you can easily install the proper driver.
