  1. OK!?! You OP said: And I replied: So I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say I'm sorry that I got confused and missed the point of your OP, and I will move along! Good luck in your future with GMRS! ?
  2. Where do you see reprogramming a Part 90 radio in Part 95.1761(c)? Here? “unless such transmitter is also certified for use in another radio service for which the frequency is authorized and for which certification is also required.” I dont think any Part 90 radios are authorized on GMRS frequencies.
  3. Sounds like you are too far from Orinda to hit that DMR repeater. Got to get some work done, so I'll check out WB6ECE later; thanks again!
  4. I was unaware of CARLA. I see that it is primarily Northern California and Nevada plus one link in Los Angeles which I was able to hit. A helpful Ham responded that it is a "no dues, but donations appreciated" system. Good to know! Which repeater do you use to gain access to CARLA and do you use CARLA DMR?
  5. GMRS_Repeaters.csv
  6. Darn! Sorry to hear that!
  7. Which raises the question: are ALL the linked repeaters on the KERN System vulnerable to its solar-powered generation of electricity to run their repeaters, or just one or a few of them? And if indeed only one or a few of them have such a limitation, why isn't her message limited to just those repeaters, such as when Morse Code IDs are not broadcast over the linked network: only on the repeater for which it is ID'ing?
  8. I guess you did instead of answering my questions. But JFTHOI: I went to my grandson's to toy with my Radioddity GM-30 clone, the Pofung P15UV, which I upgraded with the Radioddity firmware 20210615 (tip courtesy of @WyoJoe) and the beep stays off once I turn it off with the keypad menu, even after I power it off and back on again. It really is much more enjoyable WITHOUT that darn keypad beep!
  9. At least with Brandmeister, you get that PLUS worldwide Talkgroup communications, too!
  10. Brandmeister!
  11. Her ears wiggled! ?
  12. So @SUPERG900 is using the Toes Go In First Network?!? ? I think I will stick to BM! ?
  13. Every time I dial over to Frazer Mountain, I hear that female voice reminding me how limited the solar batteries are on the KERN System and I feel guilty and do not key up! ? We're trying to get @Papatreeup and running on that repeater as soon as he passes his Technician test next month! ?
  14. I understood @bobthetj03to question the need for Channels 8-14 on any GMRS device ("If you want to talk to someone on 0.5 watt, grab your FRS radio and talk to them.") and I answered it in that context.
  15. I don't understand using Digital with such limitations; why not just use analog for those situations? Using DMR with BM, I have instant access to Hams all over the world with varying interests in various Talkgroups on my HT and for less than $70! (And the same HT that can communicate with GMRS, MURS, and 2 meter and 70 cm Hams if I choose to stretch things!)
  16. I asked a similar question myself here once and got the reply that there are situations where low power and short distance are preferred: such as a situation inside one building, or a locale around a park or picnic grounds, etc.
  17. TGIF?
  18. Tim: Any particular reason why you do not register as a member of this website and continue to use it as a guest?
  19. I never really understood the difference between MARC DMR and Brandmeister DMR (which I use) and if they are interoperational. I'll just try 27500 and see if I can find you! UPDATE: Maybe not:
  20. There was some interference/static towards the end of the recorded clip (it was as if it was a recording of morse code on HF), but when I play it at 50% speed on the Voice Recorder HD App on my iPhone, I could easily decode the Morse Code and there is no "E" at the end. Next question is what radio are you using? If a mobile or HT, take a drive around and see if you can hit the other repeaters he has that are in your region and while driving scan to listen for other repeaters that may not be listed on the Site (remember there are only 8 Repeater channels to scan). RadioReference is another resource.
  21. WQWA699 You didn't say which of the 8 Repeater Channels you heard the Morse Code and he has various repeaters: Sloansville 462.550 151.4 Sloansville 462.575 703 DPL New Scotland 462.675 141.3 Esperance 462.725 141.3 Schenectady/Rotterdam 462.600 in testing Go to each individual repeater page to request permission
  22. I'm tempted to get a 3rd one! Thanks! When does the Amazon price drop down from $109?
  23. How fortuitous: @DanW's post about Amazon's Radioddity DB-20G $88 Black Friday Sale! UPDATE: Apparently, this discount is only available to Amazon Prime subscribers.
  24. What Talkgrouos do you use on DMR?
