  1. Definitely, I'm sure I could reach it right now with my HT (GM30), it's that close. The home base is still a work in progress and I suspect it'll be complete by the end of the month. Another slightly off topic subject question. When searching frequencies to scan off of radio frequency dot com, is there a way to tell which one's are analog and which one are digital?
  2. Not familiar with Wicked Chicken, Love Rattlers! There's also a fairly new spot called Crazy Hot Chicken, where the old Tilly's was on Sierra Hwy, I want to try.
  3. Awesomesauce, this keeps getting better...that company is local, so I can go pick it up. Yes, from the picture, the Larsen looks like it has the SO-239 connector and I just double checked the radio I'll be using, the DB25-G, also has the SO-239 connector. Thanks again, WRCQ487.
  4. Thanks WRCQ487, you made that too easy for me...just pulled the trigger on it, it'll be here next week. Now I need to get 25 feet of coax to match it...any suggestions? Remember, I like to just point and shoot. I have been looking at this: DX Engineering 400MAX Low-Loss 50-ohm Bulk Coaxial Cable DXE-400MAX It's not that I'm too lazy, quite the opposite, I'm just a beginner, and I've got so much else going on with life that I'm trying to keep this as a fun low-stress hobby, as much as possible for now.
  5. Hello again, everyone. Please take a look at this picture of my abandon Dish. The previous owner left it and I'm wondering if using any part of it would be beneficial when I get my gmrs antenna? Meaning, the location of the dish seems to be a primo location towards an unobstructed area, clearing the surrounding buildings and trees, and a clear southernly path towards the nearest repeater, approximately 10 miles away. I could just take it down or attach my new antenna to some part of the bracket or dish itself. I'm wondering if the dish, though not active, would interfere in any way with my new antenna. What do you think?
  6. They sent my RMA# last night, shipping it out today to exchange for the DB25-G ?
  7. That was an awesome thread, thanks for sharing it with me, I learn a lot and then some. ?
  8. This was a great thread for a beginner like me, I feel I got so much good information from reading all the comments here. As I begin putting together my own base station soon, I will be back here to revisit these nuggets of knowledge. Treading lightly and barely leaving a trace ?
  9. Oh snap, maybe I need to actual order and pay for it now, then. I put myself on the waitlist a couple weeks ago, on the website it says out-of-stock and do I want to be notified through email when it's back in stock. But it seems that if I order and buy it now, they'll just send me the next available one...maybe?
  10. That's funny cause I just posted another question topic, earlier this morning, about SWR's.
  11. That sounds like a nice option to have. I'm one of the ones of the 935G waiting list. How do you like the unit? Is it easy to use and program? I watched to review video from NotaRubicion Production, everything seemed pretty straightforward.
  12. Why are gmrs swr meters so expensive? The one I have for my cb cost twenty bucks and I only needed to use it twice. Is it worth it to even get one, since I believe most antennas come pre-tuned? If so, are there places that have used ones, other than the obvious ebay and craiglist platforms? I'm considering it because I'm going to be adding a base station.
  13. Thanks Michael. I understand we all make mistakes and the learning from those mistakes are key to cognitive growth. Yet, still licking my wounds from kicking myself so hard for such a obvious oversight on my part. I read your comments with Gadget Talk, btw, too funny.
  14. Don't have a Ham license, maybe in the not-so-distance future. I'm in communications with Radioddity about my goof and will be returning the unit in exchange for the DB25-G.
  15. Follow up post: Solar flares, radars, digital system interferences, lighter ports, bad cat converter, government tracking satellites, whatever was happening earlier this week has seemed to vanish as mysteriously as it appeared. I will say this though, I was advise not to turn on my radio until after I started my rig (mainly because the lighter plug and current surges during ignition) and to turn off the radio before shutting down my rig, and since I started doing that, the DB20-G has been performing great. Hopefully I'm not back here in two days, two weeks, etc., saying anything otherwise.
  16. Yep, lot's of options. As for this one, the larger antenna is being returned as a part of a "bundle deal" where I thought I was getting a DB25-G, but in fact it is the DB25 Pro (Dual band Quad- standby mini mobile radio w/ 50 watt antenna), in which I have no use for, and so at least I don't have that to worry about anymore...too many options sometimes. I'll need to pay closer attention to the little details and slow my roll. On a brighter note, I'm sure my tiny Bingfu is happy it's not being replaced ?
  17. My Sincere Apologies to you all for my bonehead goof-up!!! Come to find out the DB25 come in different versions (i.e., Pro Dual band Quad, the D, and the G), the one I got was the Pro Band not the G, as in GMRS. Gonna go sit in my corner now and reflect on may hasty purchase (cool bundle pack for $99) and the importance of being aware of the details.

  19. So far so good, minus a couple hiccups. As a beginner it is just right for me. Easy to navigate, program, and use. Very compact and fits nicely in my rig. I really enjoy the lighter plug which allows me to take it out and into my office when I want to program it. As far as the issue I was having with interference, I was advised to turn if off before I shut my vehicle off and turn on only after I started the vehicle. Since then the problem has not occurred again. I'm not saying that was the core of the issue but it's been working great.
  20. Do they make a adapter for this or do I need to get another mag mount?
  21. I tried downloading Chirp and McAfee put the file in quarantine ?
  22. No, I haven't, but I will check into it. Thank you ?
  23. Hey y'all, it's me again, yeah the new guy that feels like he's getting over his head with more gadgets ?. Actually got the DB25 for my base unit, keeping the DB20 mobile in my rig (it was behaving nicely today, btw, you can see my update on that in the Technical forum ?"audio anomaly"). While you're there, I just posted a new question and seeking some assistance working through the programming section of the DB25, so feel free to input your comments, advise, and/or personal knowledge for me, if you're so inclined, it will be appreciated ?. Update: Went out today where I could test the unit and it didn't go well. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I could hear folks on through the repeater but they couldn't hear me. I switched over to the DB20 and they could hear me, therefore, there's something I'm missing. The manual is less than helpful and customer service really isn't either, right now. So, if anyone has the DB25 and has time to chat about it and help me get it up and running, please message me and I'll send you my phone number. Thanks
  24. Here is my progress so fa; I was able to open zip files, download driver, and get the program running. However, when I "read" from the radio the spreadsheet was blank. I entered my callsign in the greeting box and "wrote" it back to the radio. It then cycled off. Turned it back on, there's my callsign plus seven random frequencies in channel boxes zero to six. I'm so confused and feel so needy right now. Can anyone help?
