This product works extremely well on junctions as well as for in-line connectors. I have used this since the early 1980's and have never had a failure.

Just a mention from the new Part 95 Rules:
95.1791 Sales of GMRS/FRS combination radios prohibited.
(a) Effective September 30, 2019, no person shall be permitted to manufacture or import, sell or offer for sale any radio equipment capable of operating under both this subpart (GMRS) and subpart B (FRS) of this chapter.
and
§95.591 Sales of FRS combination radios prohibited.Effective September 30, 2019, no person shall sell or offer for sale hand-held portable radio equipment capable of operating under this subpart (FRS) and under any other licensed or licensed-by-rule radio services in this chapter (devices may be authorized under this subpart with part 15 unlicensed equipment authorizations).

There has been a technical breakthrough in tin can communications technology that has doubled the range of this backup system. It's called - 30 pound test monofilament fishing line. So. if anyone wishes to upgrade their system with more range and reliability over conventional string, this is the way to go...

We believe that members of the Commission review posts in the forum occasionally. IP addresses and hosting company details are visible to the staff.
Therefore, until such time as the Commission will publicly clarify their definitions, in an official update, GMRS operators could potentially accept that Fixed to Fixed voice communications, following the protocols in 95.303, 95.1763 sub c and 95.1767 sub a 2, are permissible as long as encode CTCSS or DCS does not cause local repeaters to activate. As with all such communications, operators should use only the amount of transmitter output power and ERP to reliably communicate under your set of circumstances.Recommendation from the Staff: If you personally research all official available Commission information and choose to use the 467 mains, fixed to fixed, PLEASE research active repeaters in your area and choose frequencies that are not in use for repeater input operations, as a courtesy to others. FM modulation capture effect could block repeater operations for some users.

Even the Part 90 definition is vague.

The issue is that if simplex fixed to fixed operation takes place on a 467 main with 15 watts or less transmitter power (not ERP) and the simplex user happens to choose an active repeater input code, a repeater could be triggered each time the simplex communications on the 467 main take place.
IF anyone wishes to use 467 mains for simplex fixed op's, repeater activation code research should be done locally to verify that no repeater activation will take place.
This FCC rule stipulation may turn out to be a problem, especially in large metro areas, and may have been an unfortunate protocol to adopt. -

Definitions under section 95.303 >"Fixed station. A station at a fixed location that directly communicates with other fixed stations only."
"Base station. A station at a fixed location that communicates directly with mobile stations and other base stations."
"Control station. A station at a fixed location that communicates with mobile stations and other control stations through repeater stations, and may also be used to control the operation of repeater stations."
"Mobile station. A station, intended to be used while in motion or during halts at unspecified locations, that communicates directly with base stations and other mobile stations, and with control stations and other mobile stations through repeater stations."

95.1763 sub c "467 MHz main channels. Only mobile, hand-held portable, control and fixed stations may transmit on these 8 channels. Mobile, hand-held portable and control stations may transmit on these channels only when communicating through a repeater station or making brief test transmissions in accordance with §95.319©. The channel center frequencies are: 467.5500, 467.5750, 467.6000, 467.6250, 467.6500, 467.6750, 467.7000, and 467.7250 MHz."

Thanks, John - Three injuries reported so far by NYFD other than the perp. All three civilians were treated at Mt. Sinai Hospitals in Queens.

Early today, December 11, yet another ISIS terrorist inspired attack took place around 42nd. St and 8th Ave near the Port Authority bus depot. The suspect is in custody after the device that he used seemingly detonated early. The NYPD has the name of the 27 year old suspect and that name is 'foreign'. The person is from Brooklyn and has been in the US for roughly 7 years.
More info will be released at the NYPD press conference later this morning.Are all of our New York based members OK ? There are conflicting reports of some civilian injuries, but that has not been confirmed at this hour.

Private/Restricted listings at the main website require OWNER PERMISSION - usually in writing - to use their system. This procedure allows the OWNER to screen applicants to determine if they have an active GMRS license and what their intentions are. If someone sees a "Permission Required" entry in the main Repeater Listings at MyGMRS, the frequencies are usually listed, but the access codes are not. There is a click button below the location map for each entry that says "Request Access". By clicking on that button, a request form pops up and info in that form is sent to the owner. It is the responsibility of each repeater owner to UPDATE any changes in their repeater listings at MyGMRS. That's also why there is a "Report Listing" button below the location map that persons may use to report any system data that is no longer applicable. The owner of MyGMRS (Rich) usually sends an email to OWNERS that have systems reported, to determine current status. If they do not respond in a reasonable amount of time, the listing may be removed from the listing area until some form of verification is received back by reply email OR the owner updates or removes the listing themselves.

In the early 1970's, in the midst of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and western countries, there was actually some international commerce trade taking place. An American tractor salesman and his wife were on a sales trip to Moscow. Between sales meetings, they had planned on doing some sight seeing near their hotel around Red Square. In order to see what the weather would be like the next day, they turned on the TV and found only one channel... the USSR Communist State Television Network, but the channel did have a weatherman named Rudolph Pochenko on the air. His forecast for the next day was for rain ending at exactly 10:06 AM and dry conditions after that. The next morning, when the salesman and his wife got up, it was raining, but at exactly 10:06 AM it stopped and cleared up. The salesman looked at his wife and said, "Rudolph, the Red, knows rain, dear."
