  1. @WSFP960 It wont effect you one way or the other, you're good. Wecome to the forum.
  2. This is my problem, it's like we're always arguing about what I'm typing... no I don't want the word conquistador! Why do you do this spell check! Why! Geez!
  3. The Retevis RA87 has a squelch knob, I beleive it was a reset up Amateur radio so that might account for it. My Icom 2730A Ham radio has squelch knobs. It isn't very often I mess with them though, I might occasionally if it seems like I am picking up a higher noise level on a channel that isn't usually there but then that's it, that's the new setting I don't go back to it.
  4. My first thought was squelch as well. However I do have a question, is it on all channels or just one? I ask because I get interference on one frequency in one vehicle. Edit- @MarkInTampa beat me to it.
  5. I have never heard of such a thing??? What is this… what’s it called? GMRS linked repeater networks? Sounds made up.
  6. I can appreciate your position though I do like the idea of posting even a closed repeater or maybe private is a better way to describe it, in an attempt to minimize people adding more repeaters near one on the same frequency. This is certainly at the discretion of the owner but I was wondering if the option of disabling requests was not available before or did it not work for another reason? I see this from time to time on open repeaters, I assume so they don’t get inundated with needless requests and yet more than once I’ve heard people say that they were frustrated that people sent messages to them when they already posted that it was open or as in your case closed and I wondered why they didn’t select requests disabled. Is it an issue with the site that this doesn’t work or is it a newer option?
  7. Welcome all newcomers!
  8. Good job. And yes a good catch by @WRZD706 on the offset. I also was thinking it should have been baked in not thinking it would be removed. I always download an extra file from the radio and only make the changes to one in case I need to go back. It also helps to compare files if you make a mistake somewhere… which I have done.
  9. GMRS-16- 462.575 sits there already.
  10. Yeah I ran into that too, as you know their site is not well laid out. Go to the License Manager page, log in and once you do that at near the top of the page you'll see this (if I rememer correctly the referance copy link is at the bottom of the page, don't click that one) click on "here" in the green box and it will take you to a page where you can choose which license you want to print and the print button will be in the lower right hand side.
  11. My old one had it, same as @SteveShannon I downloaded it again and it’s gone. Nice to see some repeater options open up for those areas and simplex as well.
  12. I used it all up making high voices.
  13. This idea brings all kinds of ideas to mind. An HT that has cross band repeat tied to balloons or maybe depending on how high the balloons go how about an HT with Bluetooth connection? Interesting ideas that could be fun to test. My question would be how likely are you to have helium at the ready for an emergency? Still I’d be interested in seeing this tested.
  14. Gone the way of the DoDo. Mine is the same. Nor do I. I guess none of this ever happened. May I suggest a salute to our brothers and sisters North of Line A and East of Line C by pressing the PTT on channel 19 at high noon using the Roger beep. into a dummy load of course.
  15. It’s another radio and don’t you deserve it? Sorry, I’m also an enabler. Seriously though some things you may like about the KG-935G plus… More channels (999) VHF/UHF receive as well as FM radio dual band NOAA weather channels Here is a comparison video Randy did from the KG-905G to the 935g and while it is not the plus model you’ll find the comparisons helpful in seeing the difference from your current radio.
  16. I would add the post being chastised for all caps is just shy of three years old and they haven’t been logged on for a year and a half so I doubt it’s going to be a high priority. @SteveShannon funny you mention drafters, that’s what I always think of when I see all caps. For the record my label maker is always set for all caps. HAPPY NEW YEAR or a belated BOXING DAY.
  17. What kind of problems are you having? The repeater site requires that you sign in separately (same info as the forum site, user name and password). Here is a link to the repeater. https://mygmrs.com/repeater/5665 If it’s a programming issue tell us what radio you have and how you are programming. This repeater will be on channel 25. It may have been called RPTR 3 or something like that depending on what the radio manufacturer decided to call it.
  18. Merry Christmas
  19. It happens. Edit: I’m laughing with you of course and not at you because (1) I missed it myself and focused on the screen with “OL” and (2) I’ve done that before.
  20. They make a waterproof mic that screws down to seal to the radio.
  21. It has a two screw sealed cover over the Kenwood style Jack and another over the usbc port. No tape needed. I have the non plus version. I like it. It’s not Chirp compatible but it’s pretty easy to program front of radio.
  22. You may find the sch 20 at an electrical wholesale supply, you may have to buy a 20’ length.
  23. Wow that is a hefty price! But is it Chirp compatible? I think it might have been Yakov Smirnoff that use to flip things for his Russia jokes (then again it could have been Robin Williams). So it would go something like this… In Russia you don’t program radio, radio programs you.
  24. I don’t have the ODMaster app either but from what I can tell it’s just a way to program using the app and Bluetooth instead of programming with software and a cable connection to the radio. I don’t think it’s going to decide and propagate your radio with repeaters unless you put the info in. A google search shows videos on using the app. I think you are still going to need to gather the info you want and put it in.
  25. I first recommend following @WRHS218's advice and turn the tones off on all the radios. Another thing to keep in mind if you are trying to match tones is find out what the frequency of the tone is rather than the number. Some radios have more so the numbers may not line up.
